How to Identify and Fix Common Problems ?

With dot matrix printers, paper is often feed through pins on a wheel that grab and slowly move paper through the printer. With inkjet and other page printers, paper is fed through the printer with rollers that grab and move the paper through the printer.
There are a few things that could be the cause of this problem, including: Empty ink or toner cartridges that need replacing. Ink or toner cartridges that have become dislodged from their proper place. The wrong paper size loaded in the input tray.
Your printer can become misaligned if there is any paper stuck in the machine, print cartridges are clogged or dirty, improper installation of cartridges and using low quality cartridges. Additionally, a printer can become misaligned after the machine completes a large print job.
The printer`s rollers are the ones responsible for pulling in the sheets in the input tray.
The paper feeding mechanism includes a drive gear coaxially coupled to a shaft of drive roller for transferring a sheet to a printing zone, a feed gear coaxially coupled to a shaft of the feed roller and operating to align the sheet transferred from the drive roller, and a discharge gear coaxially coupled to a shaft of …
Continuous form feed and friction feed are the two types of paper feeder mechanisms. Dot matrix printers use continuous form feed, and laser printers use friction feed.
Typically, only large digital press printers using rolls of paper can print right to the edge. Most MFPs are not actually capable of printing to the edge of the page since the machinery requires a small amount of space to help feed the paper through the paper path.
If you find that your paper jams happen on only one side of the printer, there could be an issue with the paper feed. Often, something is blocking the path of the paper as it is fed through the rollers, such as a torn piece of paper.
Setting Up Your Printer

Most printers print the information from top to bottom, which means the paper should be fed into top-feed printers upside down so the top of the card goes into the printer first.

The portion of a printing press in which the paper (or other substrate) is stored and fed into the press for printing.
Feeding methods can help control excess nutrient intake. Methods of feeding include free-choice feeding, time-restricted feeding, and food-restricted feeding. Free-choice feeding allows the pet to eat ad libitum, thereby increasing the risk for excess nutrient intake.
The paper has holes along both sides that fit over the sprockets located on the feeder wheel. When the wheel turns, it feeds the paper into the printer. The holes are torn off the paper after the printout is complete. And, yes, printers still use this type of feeder mechanism.
The three main processing types in printing are offset lithographic printing, digital printing, and screen printing.
If the problem is not resolved, turn off the printer, unplug the power plug, and then wipe the Paper Feed Roller (A) located on the right side inside the Rear Tray with a moistened cotton swab or the like. Rotate the roller (A) manually as you clean it.
If your PC or the LCD screen on your printer is telling you that your ink cartridges are full but no ink is passing through to the paper, then it`s most likely that you are dealing with a clogged printhead. Blurry documents and images that appear faded are also signs that it`s time to remove the excess ink.
An inkjet printer printing lines or missing lines on printouts are caused when the printer cartridges or the cartridge carriage which contains the print head becomes dirty or damaged.
Even after reducing the print margin to zero in the printer settings, most printers cannot print completely borderless. There are only few printer models that can actually implement this function. Most of these models are inkjet and multifunction devices.
Technically, full bleed printing does not require a special kind of printer. You can use a standard desktop printer to make a full bleed print. That means that you can buy a full bleed printer anywhere!
Correcting Paper Feed skew

This is the most common cause for this issue. Check the paper pick rollers for each tray. Clean off the rollers with a dry cloth and try printing again. If cleaning the feed rollers does not correct the issue, see if the feed rollers are worn or dirty.

Bottom-feed printer trays accept a variety of paper sizes and types. The trays also include adjustable guides to help you properly align paper and documents to keep them from jamming.
It is a roaming print service that allows print jobs to find users based on their physical location. It`s sometimes referred to as “Pull Printing”, “Push Printing” or “Find Me” printing. It`s a great solution for large sites operating a common printer fleet.
The push method requires less effort and therefore creates less fatigue. It also allows for faster production time. As opposed to the push method, the pull method allows more printing angles, as well as allowing for adjustments of print quality and thickness.
There are two major types of feeding systems: component feeding and a total mixed ration (TMR).

paper drive wont accept paper
ANSWER : There is probably a small scrap of paper stuck at the left edge of the paper path. The paper hits it and skews to the left. The smaller size bypasses it. You need to shove something stiff, like a piece of file folder, down the paper path and attempt to dislodge it.

Paper feeds straight through without printing on an Epson R2400
ANSWER : I was able to get it to print the internal test page by holding down the sheet paper feed button while turning the machine on — then continuing to hold the sheet paper feed button. It took several attempts, feeding a page straight through, but eventually it caught the sheet and printed. So it may be a timing issue as others have mentioned. It could still mean that the feed rollers are worn out. The back side of the large D-shaped feed roller has visible abrasion on it. The abrasion is difficult to see as the roller does not stay with the flat side exposed.

Multiple paper feed
ANSWER : Most likely the pickup roller solenoid is sticking. The way it works is the solenoid energizes, pulling down a metal plate that releases the pickup roller. There is some foam on the base to quiet the clicking sound. The foam deteriorates and the plate sticks to the gooey residue. This allows the pickup roller to continue to turn instead of stopping after one revolution when the plate springs back up. That results in multiple paper being fed. Solution is to find the solenoid, which is at the end of the pickup roller shaft. Remove the sticky foam and preferably replace it with some thin sticky backed felt. You can find it at a hardware store as it is used on the bottom of chair legs.
