How to Identify and Fix Common Problems ?

Before you pile up with some extra stock of Oki toner cartridges, you should check that the cartridges you possess have long expiration date. The shelf life of a sealed cartridge is approximately 2 years, whereas, the shelf life of an opened package is roughly 6 to 10 months.
Cartridge breakdown – You can only refill your cartridge up to five times. There could be different types of refilled cartridges available in the market, ranging from the ones suitably designed for your printer model to those that claim to be “compatible” with any printer.
Toner cartridges cannot be refilled indefinitely, because mechanical parts such as rollers wear out. Some cartridges include the electro-optical drum, which becomes depleted and can be scratched.
The most obvious sign of low toner cartridge is poor print quality. Streaking, lines or missed prints are all possible signs that cartridge replacement is imminent. If you have tried rocking the toner cartridge and are still getting poor prints, it is likely time to replace your cartridge.
On your computer, in the Windows Notification Area (bottom-right corner of your Windows desktop), right-click the printer icon. In the printer menu, select the Properties or Preferences option. In the printer settings window, the ink or toner levels are displayed for the currently-installed cartridge(s).
Remove the toner cartridge and shake it from side-to-side to redistribute the toner. If one of the Toner error messages still remains, the toner cartridge has been exhausted and needs to be replaced.
Finding the Cartridge Number

The cartridge number is nearly always found on the outside of the ink or toner cartridge.

While toner lasts longer than the printing ink used in inkjet printers, a toner cartridge has a finite shelf life and should be used before it goes bad. Using toner after its expiration date has passed can have negative effects on your print jobs and the devices they`re used in.
It all depends on how much you print. So this leads to the question, “how long before a toner cartridge expires”? We`ve seen manufactures state that a toner cartridge should be used within 12 to 24 months after purchase.
A typical toner cartridge will produce anywhere between 2,500 and 4,000 pages, based on a coverage of 5% (roughly third of a page of double-spaced text). Dense pages filled with small font text or graphics will dramatically reduce this output and you may only get up to 1,000 pages per cartridge.
Durability. Many printer toners and ink cartridges are only designed for the initial use and were never intended to be refilled. This means that the more times you use them, the more likely it is that they will become damaged.
The price of refilling a HP cartridge can vary from Rs. 295 to Rs. 500, depending on the model and brand of printer.
When you send a print job from your computer, the computer tells the printer where to deposit the ink or toner. If there isn`t enough ink or toner left in the cartridge, the printer will display a low or empty sign to indicate you should replace the cartridge soon.
One bottle is recommended for hair that touches your shoulders and is fine/medium thickness. With toner, you really want to make sure you fully saturate your hair – this will ensure you don`t get any patchiness. For thicker or longer hair, I recommend two bottles.
The toner collection unit is designed for a single use. Do not attempt to empty the toner collection unit and reuse it. Doing so could lead to toner being spilled inside the product, which could result in reduced print quality. After use, return the toner collection unit to HP`s Planet Partners program for recycling.

Expired Toner and Suggestions for Source of Toner
ANSWER : Hi Frank, I had a very similar question two weeks ago, but my “old beloved workhorse” is an HP Laserjet 4L. From the good old days! I too had made bad investments in “new but old truly HP” toner cartridges, hoping to coax more life from my printer. I ended up choosing to try a remanufactured cartridge from www.4inkjets.com. It was a gamble, but the website said they had a 100% satisfaction guarantee. And I can tell you they have lighting fast service. I’ve now printed 50 pages without a flaw. JOY! While the cartridges and technology are different, I suggest you try the same place. And good luck!
