How to Identify and Fix Common Problems ?
Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced technical support :
“DRUM LIFE” or “REPLACE DRUM” is a rough indicator that the image drum cartridge has reached the end of its life. If there are no problems with print quality even if this message appears, continue to use until there is no toner left. When out of toner, replace the image drum cartridge and toner cartridge together.
If your machine continues to display “Replace Drum” after installing a new drum, the drum counter may not have reset properly. Whenever you replace the drum unit, the drum counter needs to be reset.
If your drum is not recognizing in the printer, there may be an issue with the gold chip on the end of the toner cartridge. This chip communicates with the printer to create a print and if it is not reading properly, the toner / drum unit will not work. Sometimes fingerprint oil or dust can cause this error.
The drum unit may need replacing if you notice the printer producing blurry, low-quality images. Black or colored toner spots on printouts also indicates a failing drum unit. In some cases, horizontal lines may develop across the printout every time the paper passes the failing part of the drum.
Shelf life is a period of time the components can be stored and still be suitable for use. A laser printer drum`s shelf life is approximately two years if the drum is still in its protective bag. Leave your printer`s drum in its protective bag until you`re ready to install the component.
Use an activated toner cloth, stretched tautly, and carefully wipe down the drum exterior to remove loose toner. Then use a cotton ball saturated with 99% pure isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol. Clean any patches of stubborn toner still attached to the drum.
You can set when to display the “Image Drum Near Life” message. Press [Device Settings] > [Admin Setup] > [User Install] > [Drum Near Life Timing] on the touch panel to change the setting. Available values are from 500 to 3,000 (in 500 increments).
Click on the Status Monitor icon to expand the screen display. Click the Service tab. Under Reset, click Drum count, then OK.
You stick the chip on to the drum when the printer is turned off, then you turn on the power, wait a few minutes for the printer to calibrate and it`s ready! Your drum will be reset.

ANSWER : Different cartridges, notwithstanding, don’t have a ‘fill gap’ so you’ll have to make one yourself. Our refill units for these sorts of cartridges accompany a smolder apparatus which is utilized to blaze (really dissolve) a fill opening in the cartridge . Our refill guidelines will demonstrate you precisely where to make the fill opening (you would prefer not to make it in the wrong spot). A blaze device come standard in all refill packs for cartridges without processing plant made fill openings. if you want to get proper detailed information then call us at 1-888-924-2961for more information regarding canon printer support.
