Increase Print Density For Windows

Navigate to Settings > Printers and scanners > Devices in the left-hand menu. Choose your printer from the list of options and click Manage. A dialog box will pop up. Switch to Device Settings, and increase the print density from 1-5 as you wish to darken the text.

Make sure the document or photo lies flat on the document table. Also make sure your document or photo is not wrinkled or warped. Make sure you do not move the document or photo, or your scanner while scanning. Make sure the scanner is placed on a flat, stable surface.
Clean the scanner glass and parts. Fingerprints, smudges, dust, or debris on the scanner glass, under the scanner lid, or in the document feed slot can cause lines and color bands. Clean these parts with a soft, lint-free cloth sprayed with glass cleaner.
The brightness setting in scanners is used to balance the light and dark shades in your scanned images. Too high or too low brightness settings can make some data unclear, which in turn will decrease the accuracy of OCR Hence, a default brightness of 50% is recommended for all scanning requirements.
Open a document to print on the computer, and display the setting screen of the printer driver from the print menu in the application. Click [Print Quality:Standard] of the [Detailed Settings] tab. Select [Advanced Settings] in “Adjust Image Quality/Color”, and then click [Details…].
“Printer properties” or “Properties” may be displayed, depending on the application. Display the [Quality] sheet of the print settings screen. On the [Quality] sheet, click [Advanced Settings]. In the [Advanced Settings] dialog box, select [List of Settings] [Toner Density] [Adjust] → click [Details].
Color images and documents are the most common scanned objects. Color photographs should be scanned at 600 DPI, however; scanning at a DPI of 1200 will ensure archival-quality photographs. Scanning above 1200 DPI is overkill and not necessary. When scanning for the web, color photos should be scanned at 300 DPI.
High DPI vs Low DPI

Document Quality: A file scanned at a highest DPI will always allow you the best use of the image. It will offer the best quality image when needed and a copy of the file can always be resized for when the highest quality isn`t necessary.

Brightness increases the overall lightness of the image—for example, making dark colors lighter and light colors whiter—while contrast adjusts the difference between the darkest and lightest colors.
“Contrast” is the degree of difference between the brighter and darker parts of an image. Increasing contrast will increase the difference, thus sharpening the image. Decreasing contrast will decrease the difference, thus softening the image.
If the glass and optics are dirty the machine will scan light. Even if you make a copy with a good original the print will be light. Clean the glass on the underneath and wipe the scanner assembly with a soft cloth.

Horrible lines in copying or scanning
ANSWER : If you are using the ADF, all pages are scanned with the scanner stationary on the left side. There is a small glass above the scanner and if there is anything on it, dust, whiteout, ink etc. it will interpret it as a line. First solution would be to clean the glass with window cleaner and a paper towel. If that doesn’t solve it, then scan the page on the flat glass and see if the problem continues.
