Install printer software and drivers. Create an HP account and register your printer. Connect your printer to Wi-Fi, load paper, and install cartridges.
Open or search for the HP folder in your list of installed software programs, click the folder for your printer, then click the name of your printer. HP Printer Assistant opens. Printers used to output documents from a computer do not require online access to operate. Provided the document or file to be printed is stored on a local hard disk drive or on the local network, it can be printed without a connection to the Internet.
Set your printer as the default printer
Select your printer and then select Open queue. Select Printer, then select Set As Default Printer, and clear Pause Printing and Use Printer Offline if they are selected. If you see a message that says, “Windows will stop managing your default printer for you,” select OK.

Are they interchangeable? The answer is no, even though they look similar and will likely fit inside your printer, they will not print if installed in the wrong printer. HP 63 cartridges will not work in a printer that uses HP 64 cartridges.

ANSWER : After Windows 98, Canon stopped supporting the BJC 70/80/85 series. Drivers were available for W98 and earlier, but now these are no longer carried on the Canon website. I now have my BJC 70 & 80 working, not only on a virtual machine running WinXP but also on the host which runs W8.1.In the case of Win XP it seems that a 3rd party driver was used, but I am mystified as to how it got onto the W8.1 machine, because I have a vivid recollection that the BJC managed to auto-install itself as soon as it was plugged into the USB port without any action by myself. I never expected it to work with Win8.1. I was resigned to using it only with the Virtual copy of WinXP, which meant that the printer needed to be connected only AFTER the virtual machine was booted. Now my little Bubble-Jets are accessible both from both the virtual client and the host. The most likely explanation is that I did actually find and download a 3rd party driver for Win8.1 and that I have had amnesia.
