Oct 11, 2021•Knowledge. Why Does My Printer Show Up As “Unspecified” In Devices and Printers? A printer connected to a Windows 10 PC shows up under the “unspecified” section in Devices and Printers. Printers show up under “unspecified” when Windows cannot associate an appropriate driver.
Try disconnecting and reconnecting the USB cable on from both ends. Disconnect both your Brother machine and the computer and reconnect. NOTE: When the USB connection confirmation screen appears, click Allow or Yes. (If you are using a USB hub, remove it and connect your Brother machine directly to the computer.)
Check Cables and Printer USB Ports

Check all cable connections (including the power cord) on the printer side. If the printer does have power and you`ve properly connected the communication cable, but the printer is still not recognized, try switching to a different USB port on the PC.

On the taskbar, select the Search icon, type Printers in the search bar, and then select Printers & scanners from the search results to open the Printers & scanners system setting.

To fix the error code 0x0000011b related to networked or shared printers, Microsoft says you should disable the print spooler privacy settings on both the Client PC (from which you work) and Print Server (Workstation to which the printer is attached).
The only permanent solution to the 0x0000011B error is to install the latest Windows Update which fixes the issue. For now, you can try uninstalling the update or disabling the problematic security feature from the Registry. Other workarounds include installing the printer manually.
As is true for parallel printers, USB printers require a printer driver to render print jobs, and might also require a language monitor to manage high-level communication with the printer. During the installation of a USB printer, the system-supplied INF file, Usbprint.
Click Start on your computer, then select Devices and Printers. Right-click on the printer`s icon that did not install correctly, then select Troubleshoot. After you confirm that the printer driver for the device you want to use is not installed, select Apply this fix.
4. Click on the Security tab. Note: If the security options are grayed out, go to the start menu and launch Print Management. Go to Printers > Right Click > Properties > Security Tab, you may be able to edit the permission from that window, if not, reach out to your IT.

ANSWER : Basically this kind of error caused by loss of voltage on print head. If this is the case then I suggest to buy a new printer rather than replace print head. Print head might be too costly.
