Why does my HP printer keep saying cartridge problem? Please check and wipe the cartridge contacts. The common cause of the cartridge problem message is the gold contacts found on an electronic chip on the body of the HP cartridge being cloaked with dirt or ink or even because of physical damage.
Most commonly “Cartridge Problem” means that your HP printer simply cannot recognise the colour or black ink cartridges. Thankfully however this error message can usually be cleared with some basic troubleshooting.
Cartridge Protection: This feature permanently associates toner cartridges with a specific printer, or fleet of printers, so they cannot be used in other printers. Protecting cartridges protects your investment.
Streaks, smears and stripes on your printout are all signs of a bad cartridge, as is a lack of a particular color or a color appearing very faint. Sometimes the printer refuses to print if a cartridge is faulty.
Clean the Cartridge Contacts: one of the most common reasons you might get a cartridge problem error when your cartridges are new and full is the contacts on the cartridge might be dirty or otherwise obscured from making good contact with the electronics in the printer head carriage.
Missing colours, streaky prints, smudges and ink blotches are all signs that your printer ink or toner cartridge may be damaged. Some printers will actually warn you if a cartridge is damaged and will refuse to print.
The maintenance cartridge is a container for absorbing ink used during maintenance tasks such as print head cleaning. For information on the model number of the maintenance cartridge, see Consumables. You can check the current amount of space used in the maintenance cartridge.
Chip`s primary function is to count the number of pages printed and guess how much ink is left in the tank. The cartridge has no “ink gauge” or “ink sensor,” even for advanced printers like 6700, 8610, or 8620. The estimation is done by the chip.
How long do printer ink cartridges or toner last? If your wondering how long ink cartridges or toner lasts before they expire or ink dries up, ink cartridges are manufactured with a 2-year expiry date. When you get close to two years, the ink sponge inside the cartridge can start to dry up.
Fix this problem by removing the cartridge and injecting more ink into the sponge through the exit hole. Air bubbles also can get trapped inside the cartridge, blocking ink flow. Allow the cartridge to sit unused for about an hour to give the bubble a chance to dislodge by itself.
The most common reason a refilled ink cartridge does not work is that you didn`t reinstall the cartridge properly. Check the cartridge and make sure it is not dislodged or misaligned. If there is no visible sign of misinstallation, remove the cartridge and reinstall it.
Press the button on the chip-reset tool for several seconds until the LED light on the device goes off. Then, unlock the reset tool from the cartridge. Use the resetter with other cartridges and install them back into the corresponding slots in your printer. Voila!
Bad Faucet Cartridge: In single handle faucet designs, there is a faucet cartridge inside that helps regulate the flow of hot and cold water. The cartridge can develop leaks as it starts to wear out.
Check ink or toner levels from the printer control panel

Look for an Ink drop icon ( or ), a Cartridge icon , an Ink Levels menu, or a Toner Level indicator.

Paper Jams

This is a common laser printer problem. Primary causes include grime, dust, worn rollers, or incorrect paper weight. The most basic way to prevent paper jams is simply through regular cleaning of your printer. Also, replace parts as needed.

Common factors include driver problems, software issues, hardware failures and overuse.
If your printer is not low on toner and your printouts are still fading, it could be caused by a transfer roller issue or a laser mirror that needs to be cleaned. Blank Spots – Blank spots can be caused by a defective toner cartridge or other issues with the printer, potentially a damaged transfer roller.
For the HP 932-933 ink-series printer error message “Ink System Failure” or “Printhead Failure” typically one of the ink cartridges could be low (or empty) on ink. It also possible that a poor seal is present between the cartridge and the internal printhead and the cartridge may need to be replaced with a new one.
If you disable your printer`s memory chip from collecting your printer usage information, you can continue using your printer even if the toner or ink is finished. So you want to inspect your printer`s ink level at interval by removing it to avoid your ink running out!

There`s a chance that the printhead hasn`t been installed properly or has been clogged with dried ink or debris. If this is the case, then cleaning your printhead may resolve the HP ink system error.
While toner lasts longer than the printing ink used in inkjet printers, a toner cartridge has a finite shelf life and should be used before it goes bad. Using toner after its expiration date has passed can have negative effects on your print jobs and the devices they`re used in.
