How to Identify and Fix Common Problems ?

Display the [Quality] sheet of the print settings screen. On the [Quality] sheet, click [Advanced Settings]. In the [Advanced Settings] dialog box, select [List of Settings] [Toner Density] [Adjust] → click [Details]. Adjust the density for each color → click [OK].
To do this, right-click the product icon, and click Properties. Click the Device Settings tab, and find the Print Density section. If you are experiencing any issues in the following list, adjust the setting. If the printout has areas of gray shading or a gray background, decrease the print density setting.
Print density is the measurement of light reflected off of the substrate, or how dark the print appears after each press strike. When looking at the definition of print density it is easy to see how the materials that come in direct contact with the printing surface play a crucial role in print density quality.
The maximum ink coverage is in general 300%. Again, don`t forget to consider the paper type. For example, we recommend not to exceed 280% when using coated paper. If you exceed the maximum ink coverage, chances are not all the ink will be absorbed by the paper and stains will appear.
Adjust the application settings and the printer settings to the highest possible resolution. Both of these features can typically be accessed from the “Print” menu. Dpi settings can range between 72 dpi and 2400 dpi. Choose the highest dpi setting available for best results when using a laser printer.
Another thing you can do to your image to improve its clarity when printed is to apply some Sharpening to the image. Prints need more sharpening than computer monitors, so apply just a little too much. When you apply Sharpen you have to zoom the photo to 100%.
Here are the most common causes of a printer printing faded text or images: Low ink or toner levels. Toner sticking to the fuser roller or problems with the transfer roller. Low ink or toner density settings.
The density setting can be adjusted from 1 to 5, with 3 the default. The lower the setting the lower the amount of toner used. There might also be device specific settings which are described in the applicable Product User Guide.
Aside from energy density, a second important parameter in lasers measurement is a power density. The power density (irradiance) is a ratio of power (P) in Watt (W) to the cross section area (I=W/cm2).
Measuring Ink Density

It allows control of the hue of secondary colors (reds, greens, and blues), dot gain, trapping, ink consumption (mileage) and a number of other factors important to both quality and cost.

The average values of observations of Solid Ink Density (SID) of magenta color on uncoated paper for the various jobs was found in the range of 1.17 to 1.27 on uncoated paper having 130 GSM range.
Check the toner darkness settings.

Sometimes light print can be remedied by simply changing the toner darkness setting in the printer. To change the setting, go to MENU>>SETTINGS>>QUALITY MENU>>TONER DARKNESS. Increase the darkness and send a test print to see if that fixes the issue.

Increase Print Density For Windows

Navigate to Settings > Printers and scanners > Devices in the left-hand menu. Choose your printer from the list of options and click Manage. A dialog box will pop up. Switch to Device Settings, and increase the print density from 1-5 as you wish to darken the text.

for increase viscosity – increase Dye/pigment % in ink for solvent and water based ink. For water based ink – increase dye/pigment % or glycerol %.

HP Laserjet 1320tn printing grey instead of black
ANSWER : Try this test. Put a page into the manual feeder and do that same test. When the end of the page is just about to enter the printer, open the lid. Take out the toner cartridge and pull back the shutter. Look at the image and see if it is black. The explanation is that there is high voltage going to both the toner cartridge and the charge transfer roller below it. If the image on the drum is black, then the fault is at the transfer roller not getting enough high voltage. The transfer roller pulls the image off of the drum and down onto the paper. It would not be a laser scanner problem as any issue with it would not result in an overall gray image, but combination of gray and black. It will probably turn out to be a bad HV power supply, which will need replacement. I’ve never seen this particular problem on this model.

My 2550n Color LaserJet does not want to print in color
ANSWER : That model had issues with the carousel solenoid sticking. That might explain why it works after you let it sit for 10 minutes. The solenoid gets hotter with use which causes the deteriorated foam on it to become sticky and hold down the release plate instead of letting it go. This allows the carousel to spin when it is supposed to stop for each color. The solenoid is located on the right side of the printer. If you open the lid, it is just behind the opening at the top right. You need to remove the top of the printer and scrape off the goo on top of the solenoid body. I put a piece of thin sticky backed felt to replace it. Other people use electrical tape.

I replaced the black toner cartridge and now the printer shakes though it is fine when I set it for grayscale only prints
ANSWER : You need to unlock the carousel. Once you unlock it and remove the toners, ignore all the rest of the crap. Pick any color and align the cartridge slot on the left side like you would have it to remove the cartridge. Then pull out on the gear towards you on the right and drop it so the right slot is lined up as well. You can get it aligned pretty close by just eyeballing it visually. I’ve never seen the left side go out of alignment, just the right, so this method has worked for me everytime.

Laserjet 4250 print quality issue (see image)
ANSWER : It looks like a fuser problem. One way to prove it is with the half-stop test. Put a sheet in the drop down manual feed tray. Send a print job and watch the paper. When the end of it is about to enter the printer, open the lid and take out the toner cartridge. Look at the printed image. If it looks OK, then it is a fuser problem. If not, then it is a toner cartridge issue since it hasn’t gone through the fuser.

Print file sent but no printing occurs
ANSWER : Been working on these since they first were released. Never seen a problem like yours. If it happens again, try doing an engine test, as it bypasses the formatter board. The engine test is located at the right side of the manual tray opening. Look for a hole in the side wall. Stick something like a paper clip into it to actuate the test button. It will then print a lined test page. If it does that, then it points to the formatter board as the cause of your problem.

Black line printing in the middle of the page from top to bottom
ANSWER : Take out the toner cartridge and look at the drum. If you see the line, replace the cartridge. If you don’t, then you need to replace the fuser assembly.

Prints blank pages, won't print from computer
ANSWER : Don’t know why you replaced the fuser, but assuming you had print before, then it must have been something you did during the procedure. Only thing I can suggest is to recheck your work. Just because you reinstalled a connector doesn’t mean that it is seated firmly enough to work. Any flat ribbon connectors that you removed and reinstalled, check to see that the contacts are all flat and not peeled back.
