“Machine Error 77” is an indication of a mechanical malfunction or that the ROM in the machine is detecting a false error. This error may be caused by a surge or power outage.
Machine Error 7E is an indication of a mechanical malfunction of the Brother machine. Unplugging the machine from the power outlet for approximately 30 seconds and then plugging it back in may temporarily resolve the issue, but the machine will require service.
Kindly note that Error 77 is a communication error. To clear Error 77 on the CIU enter 0 meter number 0 meter number and enter.
Reset your meter by pressing i or the BLUE or # button, this is needed to ensure the 2 parts of your meter initiate connection again. This action should reset your meter. Please note, this error is not a technical error and you should never insist a technician comes out for this.

ANSWER : Just googled this problem and delved into the innards of the machine. Lo and behold, there was a piece of paper stuck there and I have removed it (with difficulty). So it wasn’t “back cover” at all (which I kept on banging shut of course!). Misleading!

Error Code 51.1 says Printer Error No Kidding.lol
ANSWER : Sometimes turning off and on will allow you to print a few pages. The error is a beam detect error. The only real fix is to replace the laser scanner unit. Could be a loose connector on the scanner or DC controller from the scanner. That’s unlikely. You could try the only other free fix which is to open the scanner assy. and clean all the mirrors inside. The dust could obstruct the laser beam enough to cause the detect error.

Error Message – Unable to Init. 4F
ANSWER : Access the internal maintenance mode by pressing the Menu/Set button, then press * 2 8 6 4 within 2 seconds. This should put you in the maintenance mode menu. Enter 80, and then scroll down with the arrow down (round) key. You will find an entry listed as purge count. If number is over 6000, enter 2 7 8 3.
