How to Identify and Fix Common Problems ?
Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced technical support :
Streaking is usually caused by a worn out drum unit or spent toner cartridge. Drum units are a consumable and only need to be replaced after the use of 3 or 4 toners. Not all printers use a separate toner and drum unit.
When your printer leaves black lines, the lines indicate that there are excess toner powders on the rollers or transfer belt within the printer. As the paper is moved along by the rollers and transfer belt, any excess powder left on them can result in lines being left on the paper.
A cartridge may be running out of ink even if the graphic shows ink remaining (see the note at the start of this section). Lines or streaks always appear in printouts when the cartridges begin to run out of ink. Replace print cartridges that are out of ink or low on ink.
Horizontal smearing shows that the ink tank`s bottom is clogged with fibers. If you discover a problem like this, remove the cartridges and begin cleaning them. Your ink cartridges may have dried out or the print heads may have become clogged with ink residue if they are older than a year.
A printer printing lines on the page are normally caused by a blocked, dirty, or damaged print head. Blocked ink cartridge nozzles, or not removing protective seals correctly when you installed a new ink cartridge can also cause missing lines of print.
If you notice white or dark lines in your prints (also called banding), try these solutions before you reprint: Run a nozzle check to see if any of the print head nozzles are clogged. Then clean the print head, if necessary. Make sure the paper type setting matches the type of paper you loaded.
Try a 50/50 solution of vinegar and water for a streak-free clean. You can use a spray bottle or dip a rag in the solution, just like you would an ordinary cleaner. If you are worried about the fumes, only use vinegar for outdoor windows or mix a couple drops of essential oils to counteract the smell.
Streaks and unwanted lines could mean that the printer heads are out of alignment. There`s an alignment tool in the printer`s control panel. If that`s not the issue then the printer is dirty. Printer ink stripes may appear along the edges of the paper, which means there`s ink on the rollers and other parts.
Why is it important to clean a laser printer? Printing is vital to all businesses so ensuring your laser printer is thoroughly cleaned is crucial as it allows your machine to continue working efficiently. Cleaning a laser printer is easy with the correct equipment, however they are prone to dust and debris.
Paper Jams
This is a common laser printer problem. Primary causes include grime, dust, worn rollers, or incorrect paper weight. The most basic way to prevent paper jams is simply through regular cleaning of your printer. Also, replace parts as needed.
The most obvious is most common on laser color printers and can be detected by a flashing message on the printer display screen. Other signs of a bad printer drum include printing blank pages, printing gray pages and strange sounds coming from the printer as it prints.
Avoid exposing the imaging cartridge to light, and never open the drum`s protective cover as this may damage the light sensitive drum. Overexposure of the drum may cause very dark or light areas to appear on printed documents and reduce its functional life.
Clean the interior of the printer every 6 months or 300 hours of operation, whichever comes first. Clean and remove paper waste, dirt, dust and ribbon shreds. suction nozzle. Do not clean any interior working parts with the suction nozzle to avoid possible damage to the printer.
White lines will typically start appearing on your print outs due to a clogged up printer head. Your first port of call when solving this problem is to run the cleaning program on your printer, which should be accessible through its settings menu.
Laser printers work by using high heat to fuse powdered ink to paper. There is no bleeding effect, because laser toner does not absorb into paper.
Over the years, Snapchat streaks also known as Snapstreaks, have become an integral part of the Snapchat experience. Starting a streak and maintaining it, requires you to engage with your friend at least once every 24 hours. The streak vanishes if you fail to send a new Snap within 24 hours since the last Snap.
Usually a quick paper setting adjustment will clear up a ghosting issue right away. Run a cleaning – Most printers have a cleaning function built into the machine. Run this a couple of times to attempt to clear up the printing issue. Inspect the drum – Sometimes excess toner powder can stick to the drum.
(1) Load a sheet of A4 or Letter-sized plain paper in the Rear Tray and set the Paper Thickness Lever to the right. (2) Print the nozzle check pattern to check the print head condition. (3) If the print head nozzles are still not clean, turn off the printer and perform another Print Head Deep Cleaning after 24 hours.
Although a waste toner bottle is extremely important to keep your printers performing at their very best, modern laser printers do not come with this component.
Hold a piece of lens tissue above the mirror and place a few drops of acetone on the paper. Lower the lens tissue onto the optic and pull it over the surface. Note that the dry part of the tissue helps remove acetone residue. Repeat the above step until the optic is clean.
Algae commonly cause streaking and staining on roofs. The dark color that appears as a black stain is caused by a specific type of algae called gloeocapsa magma. This growth is a type of bacteria that forms when algae spores group together.
Laser printers produce higher overall print quality when taking into account both text and images. However, inkjet printers specialize in color image printing and produce high-quality color photos. When it comes to crisp, clean black and white text and color images, laser printers are unmatched.

Print Quality Issue (Streaks and Ghosting)
ANSWER : Streaks are mostly caused by internal drum wiper blades that clean left over toner off the drum to prepare it for a new image. Ghosting is caused by a leftover image on the drum. The 6 inches that you mention would be the circumference of the part that is causing it. Fusers will never cause either problem.

lexmark C544 prints yellow streaks
ANSWER : Are the streaks repeating defects or does it run top-down on the right or left side of the paper ?If you have a vertical yellow shade on the paper, it’s probaly the yellow developer unit which causes the problem. You then can either replace the developer only or (depending on the total number of pages printed, check the statistics !) the complete imaging kit which consists of all four developers and the imaging basket with the Photoconductors. If you see a repeating defect, you should at first print out the print defects page (menue\reports\print defects). Compare the yellow streaks with the printed scales. Above the scales it tells you which component should be changed.

Permanent Streaking
ANSWER : First off, there is no transfer roller. It’s a transfer belt. There really isn’t any way for toner to clump to it. The most that could happen would be a very thin layer of toner. I’m kind of under the impression that your tech services guy is clueless and knows nothing about printers. It wouldn’t be the first time I’ve encountered someone like that.

Blank vertical streak
ANSWER : That would be something blocking the laser light. There is a laser unit at the top. It shoots out a beam of laser light that reflects off of a mirror at the top front of the printer and down into the slot at the top of the toner cartridge. Anything that is in the path of that beam will result in a blank area at that part of the page. Just look closely at the top of the cartridge and up into the slot that corresponds with the slot on top of the cartridge.
