How to Identify and Fix Common Problems ?

Print density is the measurement of light reflected off of the substrate, or how dark the print appears after each press strike. When looking at the definition of print density it is easy to see how the materials that come in direct contact with the printing surface play a crucial role in print density quality.
A Cartridge is Low or Cartridge is Very Low message displays when the amount of toner in the cartridge is below a certain percentage. This message is a reminder to have a replacement toner cartridge available. You do not need to replace the toner cartridge until print quality becomes unacceptable.
“Toner Low” indicates that the toner cartridge is approaching the end of its expected life, but the cartridge has not yet reached its end of life. It`s recommended that the toner cartridge continue to be used if the print quality is still good.
“Printer properties” or “Properties” may be displayed, depending on the application. Display the [Quality] sheet of the print settings screen. On the [Quality] sheet, click [Advanced Settings]. In the [Advanced Settings] dialog box, select [List of Settings] [Toner Density] [Adjust] → click [Details].
Sometimes, simply restarting both your computer and printer can be the solution to the “printer in error state” issue. Power off your printer and computer completely, leaving them in this state for a few minutes, then turn them on again to see if the problem is gone.
Toner Sensor

These sensors are covered with toner when the cartridge is full, then become exposed over time as you print pages and the toner level declines. When the cartridge reaches a level set by the manufacturer, your low-toner indicator will light.

Density is the most basic measurement of the mechanical characteristics of print. Reflective density is calculated from the amount of light that is reflected from the substrate (paper, film, etc.) and the ink. It is a simple way to evaluate changes in the ink film thickness or ink concentration that is being laid down.
Answer and Explanation: In offset printing, ink density refers to the measure of light reflected by the blank areas of the page and the printed areas of the page. This helps printers determine how much ink should be applied to the paper to achieve the optimal results of the final image.
Air bubbles in the measuring chambers can frequently cause errors in density measurement. Bubbles can form when the sample degasses, or can be introduced with the sample.
To override HP ink cartridge error, remove and reinstall the indicated cartridge 2-3 times until it firmly seats in the slot. Then turn off the printer and remove all cartridges. Gently, with a dry lint-free cloth, wipe the contacts on the cartridge and carriage to remove any dirt or residue.
If your printer`s status displays “Printer in error state,” there may be a problem with the printer itself. Make sure the printer is turned on and connected to your PC by Wi-Fi or cable. Check it for low paper or ink, and be sure the cover isn`t open and the paper isn`t jammed.
You`ll be able to keep printing until the black toner runs out. When the black toner runs out, you won`t be able to print until you replace it.
Ink cartridges that have been sitting idle in your machine for more than a couple weeks will eventually dry out. You might be able to bring them back to life by running a cleaning on your machine, but if the pattern continues, you will eventually be placing an order for a set of replacement cartridges.
No, a laser printer uses toner and will eventually need a replacement toner cartridge. If you have an inkjet printer, you need ink cartridges. Both types of printers get the job done – it`s how they get there that differs.
Toner Save Mode allows the printer to use less toner on each page.
A typical toner cartridge will produce anywhere between 2,500 and 4,000 pages, based on a coverage of 5% (roughly third of a page of double-spaced text). Dense pages filled with small font text or graphics will dramatically reduce this output and you may only get up to 1,000 pages per cartridge.
The answer is yes, to a point. Your office toner cartridges come filled with a powder so, if you haven`t used your printer for a while, it is plausible some of that powder can get jammed and needs to be jarred loose.
The density setting enables you to adjust the lightness/darkness of scanned originals for sending.
Using the Reflection Densitometer

The easiest way to determine ink film thickness is to measure its reflection density with a densitometer. A reflection densitometer assigns a numerical value to ink density. The higher the number, the thicker (denser) the ink film.

Density is a measure of how heavy something is compared to its size. If an object is more dense than water it will sink when placed in water, and if it is less dense than water it will float. Density is a characteristic property of a substance and doesn`t depend on the amount of substance.
The density represents the ink`s ability to absorb light. For printing three primary colors CMY, the thicker the ink layer is, the stronger the ink`s ability to absorb light is, and the higher the density value is (the density will hardly change as the ink layer thickness increases to a certain extent).
The maximum ink coverage is in general 300%. Again, don`t forget to consider the paper type. For example, we recommend not to exceed 280% when using coated paper. If you exceed the maximum ink coverage, chances are not all the ink will be absorbed by the paper and stains will appear.
Film scanners have a range of density in the range of 3 to 4 and this is why they are able to capture completely the high range of contrast of slides and negatives.

Density Shutter Error
ANSWER : I’ve never worked on one of those printers, but I have never, ever seen 1 valid solution for printer repair on fixya.com I read the replies there when I need a good laugh. Makes me wonder what the “techs” on that forum actually do for a living. It certainly couldn’t be printer repair.

Error Code 51.1 says Printer Error No Kidding.lol
ANSWER : Sometimes turning off and on will allow you to print a few pages. The error is a beam detect error. The only real fix is to replace the laser scanner unit. Could be a loose connector on the scanner or DC controller from the scanner. That’s unlikely. You could try the only other free fix which is to open the scanner assy. and clean all the mirrors inside. The dust could obstruct the laser beam enough to cause the detect error.

Error Code 52.1M
ANSWER : Magenta laser error. The spinning motor bearings cause the squeal and that slows it down causing the error. You could try opening it and lubricating the motor shift with a drop of synthetic lubricant. Do not use more than a drop.
