Paper curl is caused by an excess amount of moisture in the paper. The first step to ensure less paper curl is to store your paper in a cool, dry area. By doing so, you will reduce the amount of moisture and humidity the paper is exposed to. The next step is to always fan the paper before placing in the machine.
High temperatures and high humidity will cause paper to curl. If you don`t use the printer very often, the paper may have been in the paper tray too long. Turn over the stack of paper in the paper tray. Also, fan the paper stack and then rotate the paper 180 degrees in the paper tray.
Paper has built-in stresses due to the manufacturing process. If paper is moistened on one side only, the fibers on that side swell, and that side of the paper gets longer, so the paper curls away from the wet side. As the wetter side of the paper dries out, the paper slowly loses its curl and then is flat again.
Make sure your paper meets the specifications for your product. If paper dust builds up on the rollers, they may lose traction and become unable to feed paper properly. Clean the paper guide. If roll paper does not feed, cut the end straight across and uncurl it by rolling it backward, if necessary.
Cut the paper to the size that is needed. Lightly mist the paper with clean water using a spray bottle (do not soak the paper – only a light mist is needed) Place the misted paper between 2 sheets of parchment or tissue paper. Carefully place a board or heavy book over the paper and let sit for 24 hours.
Paper/cover curl is the result of an increase or decrease in the relative humidity in the environment the books are located. The ideal humidity level to keep paper flat is around 45%RH. Print shops control their climate by adding or reducing the amount of moisture in the air to maintain the 45%RH target.
Paper is a collection of small fibers pressed into a sheet and held together with various binding agents. When you roll paper, these individual fibers get curved, and the curve maintains its shape for some time – letting go of the roll doesn`t give you a flat sheet.
In the depths of winter, RH levels as low as 15-20% are not uncommon. In these conditions, moisture is drawn from the exposed surfaces of stacks of paper and they shrink, but the centre of the paper still has its original moisture content. This causes “tight edges” and the paper begins to curl.
Select > Paper Setting > paper source > Print Adjustments > Paper Feed Adjust.
Paper curl occurs, depending on heating conditions at the time or the environment, and where the paper was kept before use.
High Humidity

When a printer resides in a humid environment, the moisture content can distort the paper, making it warped, wavy or curled. This can disrupt the function of the printer and cause paper jams. It can also cause streaks and smudging during the printing process, diminishing the print quality.

What is the ideal humidity for printing? Most printing processes and paper storage areas would benefit from maintaining a relative humidity of 45-55%RH.
When your Print is fully face down, take some smooth, flat, heavy objects (i.e. books) and place on the ends and even the middle of your Print. Let it sit overnight!
Click Start, point to Settings, and the click Printers. Right-click the appropriate printer, and then click Properties. Click the Paper tab, and then click the paper size you want to use in the Paper Size box. Click OK, and then close the Printers folder.
