How to Identify and Fix Common Problems ?

A 202.05 paper jam error code appears on the printer. One of the possible causes of this issue is the Exit Sensor is blocked too long and was not able to clear the sheet. Another possible cause can be a loose back door, tape on reverse solenoid pad (as shown in the image below), or a worn/contaminated Fuser.
Issue description

The printer thinks the output bin on the top of the printer (where the paper rests) is full. If there is no paper on top of the printer where the bin is, the likely cause of the message is that the exit flag is out of position, stuck, or possibly broken.

Make sure that both your computer and your Lexmark printer are connected to your network. Restart your printer. In some cases, a simple restart can fix the issue. Unplug the printer and check if there is any paper stuck in the machine, and if the toner is installed correctly.
The Output Bin (or tray) is where the paper sits after it is finished printing. To ensure there is room for additional finished sheets, the device uses a flap or sensor to determine if the output bin must be emptied. Remove any finished prints from the output bin.
Printed paper is output to the output tray on the top of the printer with the printed side facing down. Before printing paper, open the output tray to output the printed paper. Keep the output tray closed when the printer is not used.
Lexmark devices are intentionally designed to last seven years or more.
Click the Copy/Print or Print tab. Open the Manage Trays menu. Modify the tray settings.
Open the tray and do one or more of the following: Check for paper jams or misfeeds. Check if the paper size indicators on the paper guides are aligned with the paper size indicators on the tray. If you are printing on custom‑size paper, then make sure that the paper guides rest against the edges of the paper.
Paper jams can occur for a variety of reasons, such as overloading the paper tray, loading different thicknesses of paper in the tray, or using paper that isn`t appropriate for your particular printer. False paper jams can also occur.
Step one: Perform a power reset

Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet. Wait at least 15 seconds. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the product.

Volatile memory requires power to store the information. Deleting volatile memory is easy: Simply shut down or unplug your printer for a minute or so. Most printers also have non-volatile memory (a hard drive) that is stored until you physically delete it.
After printing, trim the page down to its intended size. For instance, to achieve a full bleed 11×17, run the job on 12×18 paper, add an extra half inch all around your design (11.5 x 17.5) and trim the edges with a paper cutter such as an MBM Triumph 4315 or 5255.
A paper printout of a document is known as Hardcopy output. hard copy (printout) … Sometimes referred to as a printout , a hard copy is so-called because it exists as a physical object.
Load the paper into the paper tray before sending the data to the printer. When the printer receives data from the computer, it feeds a single sheet and begins to print.
As print quality goes down over time, this will be a reason to replace the color printer. We find a black and white printer can sometimes last 10 years or more and most color laser printers are replaced every 3 to 5 years.
Our Verdict

The HP is better built, it has a much higher page yield, and it supports duplex scanning. However, the toner cartridges for the Lexmark are cheaper, so it`s slightly most cost-effective over time with this printer.

Lexmark inks have an approximate shelf life of two years and six months out of packaging. Panasonic has a couple of inkjet printers that use pigment-based ink. Like other ink cartridges, Panasonic ink has a two-year shelf life and will last approximately six months when in use.
It is recommended that you clean any dirt from the inside of the printer while the print head is soaking or drying. In addition to cleaning agents containing alcohol, compressed air is ideal for removing dust from inkjet printers.
A paper tray is part of a printer and is used to store and feed paper to the printer. Generally printers will have multiple paper trays.
Improve printer performance by selecting the optimum paper type for the tray. You can select from the following paper types: Tray 1. [Thin Paper], [Thick Paper 1], [Thick Paper 2], [Plain Paper], [Recycled Paper], [Color Paper], [Preprinted], [Prepunched], [Letterhead], [Bond Paper], [Cardstock], [Label Paper]
Tray 1 is the small slot in the front for manually feeding paper. The paper cassette which holds the paper and slides out is called tray 2.
Open Tray 1 by grasping the handles on the left and right side of the tray and pulling down. Slide out the tray extension. For long paper, flip out the tray extension to support the paper. Press down on the tab on the right paper guide, and then spread the paper guides to the correct size.
When a printer resides in a humid environment, the moisture content can distort the paper, making it warped, wavy or curled. This can disrupt the function of the printer and cause paper jams. It can also cause streaks and smudging during the printing process, diminishing the print quality.

Lexmark paper feed problems
ANSWER : On my X204n Lexmark laser printer, it was doing the same thing you described – basically sounded like it was trying to pick up the paper from the tray and then failing after several seconds. When you’d open the paper tray, the paper looked like it had been partially taken up with some black scuff marks on the paper that lined up with the rollers that take up the paper. I inspected the rollers and although they looked a bit smooth and worn, didn’t seem like they should be a problem. However, this particular model has just a rubber tire almost like a car tire – the rubber can come off the hard plastic wheel on the inner portion. So I popped off the two rubber “tires”, turned them inside out and put them back on. When turned inside out, the rubber looked nice and … rubbery and had a lot more grippy feeling to them. The very first printing attempt after that and the paper sucked up perfectly with no problems. I think the problem is solved! So if you have similar “tires” that take up the paper, try flipping them and see if it works for you too.

Lexmark X4650 paper Jamming!!
ANSWER : Well I had two printers that had similar issues – misalignment of paper feed which rendered both printers useless. I shook the Lexmark x4650 a couple of times and then plugged it in and got new paper and voila the misalignment was gone and it actually fed paper like it used to and printed it too.

Lexmark MS410dn not picking up paper
ANSWER : What colour are the pick rolls ? The new and enhanced pick roll tires for this series are green ones, P/N is 41X0918. The old ones in grey produced the pick errors due to a manufacturing fault. You can test the rolls by removing the tires and clean the roller profile with a roller rejuvenator liquid. Or simply use a cotton cloth with some dishwashing liquid. Clean the tires under warm water. If this works (temporarily) – replace the roller tires in your printers. That has almost every time for me.Good Luck,Andreas

Lexmark X466 empty tray
ANSWER : The “Load Tray 1 with A4 paper” means the printer is looking for A4 size paper in Tray 1 and that is not what it is detecting. You need to make sure that the paper size that is in the tray matches what the printer is expecting so it understands that it should be looking for a specific size of paper. If you are printing on regular Letter size paper – set the printer tray to Letter instead of A4 and message should go away.

paper drive wont accept paper
ANSWER : There is probably a small scrap of paper stuck at the left edge of the paper path. The paper hits it and skews to the left. The smaller size bypasses it. You need to shove something stiff, like a piece of file folder, down the paper path and attempt to dislodge it.

Paper jam in tray 2 (but no paper pulled from tray) also M476DN models
ANSWER : Isopropyl alcohol is not recommended for rubber rollers. It dries out the rubber and hasten it’s cracking and breaking. It will do nothing to restore the grip. Those rollers are really hard to replace. It would be easy if that dumbass secondary menu really worked. None of the techs I’ve spoke to ever got into it. Everyone I know sends a print job and listens for the roller to rotate into position where you can pull it off.
