How to Identify and Fix Common Problems ?

The paper has holes along both sides that fit over the sprockets located on the feeder wheel. When the wheel turns, it feeds the paper into the printer. The holes are torn off the paper after the printout is complete. And, yes, printers still use this type of feeder mechanism.
If there is paper in the tray but the printer is not picking the paper, open the tray and flip the paper stack over. Load a fresh ream of paper and observe whether the issue remains. If the issue persists, remove the whole tray out and inspect the bottom of the tray for any paper debris or obstructions.
In multifunction or all-in-one printers, fax machines, photocopiers and scanners, an automatic document feeder or ADF is a feature which takes several pages and feeds the paper one page at a time into a scanner or copier, allowing the user to scan, and thereby copy, print, or fax, multiple-page documents without having …
Your 3D printer works by feeding a plastic filament into the heater core of the Extruder. The plastic melts and is then forced through the Extruder`s nozzle and applied to the worktable to print three dimensional objects.
A paper feed issue can occur for several reasons, such as dusty or contaminated paper rollers, the condition of the paper in the tray, or even issues with the software.
Slide the paper all the way into the printer. The leading edge of the paper will stop at the Paper Drive Roller. Locate the Paper Sensor/OOPs sensor on the right side of the paper path. It can be seen from the top of the printer with the Top Cover open and has red, black, and blue wires attached to it.
If the paper feed rollers are dirty or paper powder is attached to it, paper may not be fed properly. In this case, clean the paper feed rollers. Cleaning will wear out the paper feed rollers, so perform this only when necessary. Make sure that the power is turned on and remove any paper from the rear tray.
Continuous form feed and friction feed are the two types of paper feeder mechanisms. Dot matrix printers use continuous form feed, and laser printers use friction feed.
The automatic feed mechanism of the table is very simple. This is done by rotating a ratchet wheel, mounted at the crossfeed screw. This enables a corresponding equal rotation of the crossfeed screw after each stroke. It consists of a slotted disc, which carries a T-slot, as shown in the figure.
An ADF (Automatic Document Feeder) is a great feature to have when used properly. It gives you the ability to feed several pages into a multifunction printer, scanner or copier, allowing you print print, copy or scan multiple pages at once without having to manually insert each piece of paper.
The transfer belt rolls the paper through the printer giving it a positive charge. As it passes the drum, the negatively charged toner is attracted to the page in the shape of your print. The toner is then melted to the paper by hot rollers called the fuser unit, and voila, your page is printed.
The guides in the paper tray are there to make sure the stack of paper is exactly where the printer was designed to grab from. If the paper is even slightly askew, the rollers will pick it up a little crooked, and — guess what — the crooked sheet will immediately get jammed.

Lexmark paper feed problems
ANSWER : On my X204n Lexmark laser printer, it was doing the same thing you described – basically sounded like it was trying to pick up the paper from the tray and then failing after several seconds. When you’d open the paper tray, the paper looked like it had been partially taken up with some black scuff marks on the paper that lined up with the rollers that take up the paper. I inspected the rollers and although they looked a bit smooth and worn, didn’t seem like they should be a problem. However, this particular model has just a rubber tire almost like a car tire – the rubber can come off the hard plastic wheel on the inner portion. So I popped off the two rubber “tires”, turned them inside out and put them back on. When turned inside out, the rubber looked nice and … rubbery and had a lot more grippy feeling to them. The very first printing attempt after that and the paper sucked up perfectly with no problems. I think the problem is solved! So if you have similar “tires” that take up the paper, try flipping them and see if it works for you too.

Lexmark MS410dn not picking up paper
ANSWER : What colour are the pick rolls ? The new and enhanced pick roll tires for this series are green ones, P/N is 41X0918. The old ones in grey produced the pick errors due to a manufacturing fault. You can test the rolls by removing the tires and clean the roller profile with a roller rejuvenator liquid. Or simply use a cotton cloth with some dishwashing liquid. Clean the tires under warm water. If this works (temporarily) – replace the roller tires in your printers. That has almost every time for me.Good Luck,Andreas

Paper feeds straight through without printing on an Epson R2400
ANSWER : I was able to get it to print the internal test page by holding down the sheet paper feed button while turning the machine on — then continuing to hold the sheet paper feed button. It took several attempts, feeding a page straight through, but eventually it caught the sheet and printed. So it may be a timing issue as others have mentioned. It could still mean that the feed rollers are worn out. The back side of the large D-shaped feed roller has visible abrasion on it. The abrasion is difficult to see as the roller does not stay with the flat side exposed.

Multiple paper feed
ANSWER : Most likely the pickup roller solenoid is sticking. The way it works is the solenoid energizes, pulling down a metal plate that releases the pickup roller. There is some foam on the base to quiet the clicking sound. The foam deteriorates and the plate sticks to the gooey residue. This allows the pickup roller to continue to turn instead of stopping after one revolution when the plate springs back up. That results in multiple paper being fed. Solution is to find the solenoid, which is at the end of the pickup roller shaft. Remove the sticky foam and preferably replace it with some thin sticky backed felt. You can find it at a hardware store as it is used on the bottom of chair legs.
