How to Identify and Fix Common Problems ?

Phantom paper jams can be caused by the paper sensor not working correctly. If you look along the paper path, you will see little plastic `flags` that should stick out, then get pushed down when the paper goes by. The other end of that flag sits in a `U` and works just like a garage door beam sensor.
Make sure that the paper size and type matches with the paper in the tray. False error messages can result from incorrect media settings in the driver or on the printer. If the tray is full and no paper jam is associated with the error, try cleaning the pick rollers.
Lexmark Error Code(s):20, 21, 22, 23, 200.13, 200, 201(Paper Jam) Error: In other words, you have got a paper jam, one of the most common issues among printers all around. Now remove the paper tray and reinstall it and then re-install either the toner or ink cartridge.
Issue description

The printer encounters a 200.13 paper jam error message which might be accompanied with a grinding noise when printing. This is caused by the media stack sliding back from the pick position due to the rear restraint being improperly set.

ERR 20 signifies a mechanical (shutter) or mirror problem and is normally rectified (temporarily) by turning off the camera, extracting the battery and reinserting.
Error Code 20 indicates a general network failure. It is a general purpose error which indicates that the underlying TCP connection was forcibly closed for some reason unknown to our application.
Common causes of paper jams include: Damaged rollers. Inserting paper that is incompatible with the printer. Loading the paper incorrectly.
If the [ ] indicator is blinking, a paper jam occurs inside the printer. Follow the procedures in this section to remove the jammed paper. Use caution to avoid cutting your hands.
But for this specific issue, where the printer is reporting a paper jam even though no paper seems to be jammed, I`ve found that 90% of the time there`s one thing to blame: the guides on the paper tray. Any time your printer halts because of a paper jam, check the tray that holds the paper.
your pickup roller is dirty and the printer can`t grab a piece of paper. it will say paper jam when it does this. get a drop of dishsoap and clean the pickup roller of your printer with this. scrape at it with your fingernail to get the roller clean and wipe it off with a damp washcloth.
Make sure that both your computer and your Lexmark printer are connected to your network. Restart your printer. In some cases, a simple restart can fix the issue. Unplug the printer and check if there is any paper stuck in the machine, and if the toner is installed correctly.
Make sure that the friction pad, paper feed roller or registration roller is clean. See Cleaning the Friction Pad and Paper Feed Roller and Cleaning the Registration Roller. Check that paper was not added while there was still some left in the tray. Only add paper when there is none left in the tray.
One of the most common causes of paper jams is that the paper has simply not been loaded correctly into the printer paper feed. With this in mind, remove any paper from the tray in order to check for any jams. If you do see some paper jammed, pull each sheet out of the printer slowly until the printer is clear again.

Paper Jam error but no paper jam
ANSWER : Obviously you didn’t get all the paper cleared out. There is a small scrap in the paper path causing the jam when the paper hits it. You can try clearing it out by inserting something stiff like a piece of file folder from the back of the printer into the paper path and pushing the offending piece out that way.

Lexmark X4650 paper Jamming!!
ANSWER : Well I had two printers that had similar issues – misalignment of paper feed which rendered both printers useless. I shook the Lexmark x4650 a couple of times and then plugged it in and got new paper and voila the misalignment was gone and it actually fed paper like it used to and printed it too.

Lexmark paper feed problems
ANSWER : On my X204n Lexmark laser printer, it was doing the same thing you described – basically sounded like it was trying to pick up the paper from the tray and then failing after several seconds. When you’d open the paper tray, the paper looked like it had been partially taken up with some black scuff marks on the paper that lined up with the rollers that take up the paper. I inspected the rollers and although they looked a bit smooth and worn, didn’t seem like they should be a problem. However, this particular model has just a rubber tire almost like a car tire – the rubber can come off the hard plastic wheel on the inner portion. So I popped off the two rubber “tires”, turned them inside out and put them back on. When turned inside out, the rubber looked nice and … rubbery and had a lot more grippy feeling to them. The very first printing attempt after that and the paper sucked up perfectly with no problems. I think the problem is solved! So if you have similar “tires” that take up the paper, try flipping them and see if it works for you too.

Paper jam in tray 2 (but no paper pulled from tray) also M476DN models
ANSWER : Isopropyl alcohol is not recommended for rubber rollers. It dries out the rubber and hasten it’s cracking and breaking. It will do nothing to restore the grip. Those rollers are really hard to replace. It would be easy if that dumbass secondary menu really worked. None of the techs I’ve spoke to ever got into it. Everyone I know sends a print job and listens for the roller to rotate into position where you can pull it off.
