Finding your printer model

Your printer model number can be found directly above or below the display panel of your device.

When contacting Lexmark Technical Support or arranging warranty service, you will need to know your printer`s machine (model) type and serial number. Find this information on labels located inside the left door cover and on the back of the machine.
The serial number (SN), top‑level indicator (TLI), and machine type (TYPE) can be found at the left side of the printer. The above‑mentioned information is also listed in the menu settings page that you can print by following these steps.
The easiest way to find your printer model is by looking at the front of your printer. Depending on what printer you own, the model name could be on the corners or the center of the front-facing cover. If it is on the front of the machine, it is usually close to the control panel.
A Machine Identification Code (MIC), also known as printer steganography, yellow dots, tracking dots or secret dots, is a digital watermark which certain color laser printers and copiers leave on every printed page, allowing identification of the device which was used to print a document and giving clues to the …
From the Print Management web portal, click Print Job History. The print job history contains the following information: Impressions—A side of a sheet of paper that contains toner. Released From—Shows the printer IP address where the print job is released.
Open your web browser. (We recommend using either Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox.) Type your printer`s IP address in the address bar, and then press the Enter key. If your web browser displays an additional security dialog box, type the default ID and password and click [OK].
A printer is a device that accepts text and graphic output from a computer and transfers the information to paper, usually to standard-size, 8.5″ by 11″ sheets of paper. Printers vary in size, speed, sophistication and cost.
A Printer Name is a string that contains the name of a facility for output. It MUST uniquely identify a destination that is local or on a print server.
So What do the Letters Mean? The letters provide a quick reference of the key features the printer has. So when we see two or three letters at the end of a printer model, that printer has two or three extra features. That said this only applies to the letter after the printers model.
Type cmd in the Windows search bar at the bottom-left of the screen, then select Command Prompt from the list of results. In the Command Prompt window, type wmic bios get serialnumber and press Enter.
The machine ID is usually generated from a random source during system installation or first boot and stays constant for all subsequent boots. Optionally, for stateless systems, it is generated during runtime during early boot if necessary. The machine ID may be set, for example when network booting, with the systemd.
The /etc/machine-id file contains the unique machine ID of the local system that is set during installation or boot. The machine ID is a single newline-terminated, hexadecimal, 32-character, lowercase ID. When decoded from hexadecimal, this corresponds to a 16-byte/128-bit value. This ID may not be all zeros.
Select Start > Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners .
Print Number – This number is first and it represents the order the item was printed in. So, the first item printed is #1, the second item printed is #2, and so on, until the very last item printed. Print Count – This is the second number and the number of cards that are available, the total amount that are printed.
If your printer is spitting out pages full of strange characters, symbols, or strange formatting, your inkjet printer drivers may be outdated, incompatible with your operating system or corrupt. Drivers are important to the proper function of your inkjet printer and it is best to check for updates regularly.
Where is Printer History Stored? Just like computers, printers have volatile memory (RAM) that is removed when you turn the printer off. Volatile memory requires power to store the information. Deleting volatile memory is easy: Simply shut down or unplug your printer for a minute or so.
The print history is a record of all printer activity, i.e. a list of all the documents that have been sent to print from a particular computer that also shows which user has sent them to print, how many times and when (date and time).
For Windows:

Right-click on the printer icon and select `properties` from the menu. Find the `general` tab within the properties menu and then look for the `location` field. The numbers that appear to the right of this field make up your printer`s IP address.

In the Devices and Printers window click on Add a printer. Choose “Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings”, then click Next. Select Create a new port and choose Standard TCP/IP Port, then click Next. Under Hostname or IP address: Type in the IP address of the printer you intend to connect to.
Use an Ethernet switch or router, and two or more Ethernet cables. Connect the computer to the switch or router with one cable, then connect the printer to the switch or router with the second cable. Connect to any port on the switch or router except the uplink port.
Printer is an output device, which is used to print information on paper.
The main function of the printers is to present text or images to flat media such as paper in various sizes. After all, everyone needs a printer for different needs. For example, high school and college students usually need to print black and white documents.

Lexmark X466 empty tray
ANSWER : The “Load Tray 1 with A4 paper” means the printer is looking for A4 size paper in Tray 1 and that is not what it is detecting. You need to make sure that the paper size that is in the tray matches what the printer is expecting so it understands that it should be looking for a specific size of paper. If you are printing on regular Letter size paper – set the printer tray to Letter instead of A4 and message should go away.

Lexmark paper feed problems
ANSWER : On my X204n Lexmark laser printer, it was doing the same thing you described – basically sounded like it was trying to pick up the paper from the tray and then failing after several seconds. When you’d open the paper tray, the paper looked like it had been partially taken up with some black scuff marks on the paper that lined up with the rollers that take up the paper. I inspected the rollers and although they looked a bit smooth and worn, didn’t seem like they should be a problem. However, this particular model has just a rubber tire almost like a car tire – the rubber can come off the hard plastic wheel on the inner portion. So I popped off the two rubber “tires”, turned them inside out and put them back on. When turned inside out, the rubber looked nice and … rubbery and had a lot more grippy feeling to them. The very first printing attempt after that and the paper sucked up perfectly with no problems. I think the problem is solved! So if you have similar “tires” that take up the paper, try flipping them and see if it works for you too.

I shook the Lexmark x4650 a couple of times and then plugged it in and got new paper and voila the misalignment was gone and it actually fed paper like it used to and printed it too.
