Lexmark MS 410DN
I have 3 Lexmark MS410dn’s and MS310dn’s that stopped picking up paper. The pickup assembly doesn’t seem to be spinning. When we close the tray, it acts as if it trying to pick up the paper, only to ask for paper to be loaded.

Experienced technical support provide their insights in answering this question :
What colour are the pick rolls ? The new and enhanced pick roll tires for this series are green ones, P/N is 41X0918. The old ones in grey produced the pick errors due to a manufacturing fault. You can test the rolls by removing the tires and clean the roller profile with a roller rejuvenator liquid. Or simply use a cotton cloth with some dishwashing liquid. Clean the tires under warm water. If this works (temporarily) – replace the roller tires in your printers. That has almost every time for me.Good Luck,Andreas

How to Identify and Fix Common printer Problems ?

Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced technical support :

Open the tray and do one or more of the following: Check for paper jams or misfeeds. Check if the paper size indicators on the paper guides are aligned with the paper size indicators on the tray. If you are printing on custom‑size paper, then make sure that the paper guides rest against the edges of the paper.
If the “load paper” error pops up during printing and your paper tray is full, it`s very possible that your paper feed rollers are worn or dirty. Paper feed rollers can wear down over time or accumulate dust and paper fibers.
The paper might not be engaged with the feed rollers. The paper-width guide is pressed against the paper stack too tightly. The paper settings in the print driver do not match the paper loaded in the paper tray. The rubber paper-feed rollers are dusty.
Turn off your printer and disconnect the power cables. Remove all the paper from the printer. Clear the rollers using a cloth and bottled water. Reconnect the power cables and turn on your printer.
A piece of paper stuck in the paper tray or inside the printer can create a paper jam. Paper jams can occur for a variety of reasons, such as overloading the paper tray, loading different thicknesses of paper in the tray, or using paper that isn`t appropriate for your particular printer.
There are a few things that could be the cause of this problem, including: Empty ink or toner cartridges that need replacing. Ink or toner cartridges that have become dislodged from their proper place. The wrong paper size loaded in the input tray.
Click on Control Panel. Select and open the Devices and Printers option. Right click on the Default Printer, and select Printing Preferences. Look for the Paper Size option.
Restart your printer. In some cases, a simple restart can fix the issue. Unplug the printer and check if there is any paper stuck in the machine, and if the toner is installed correctly. If all seems fine leave the printer disconnected for half a minute, then reconnect it and resume the print job.
If the paper feed rollers are dirty or paper powder is attached to it, paper may not be fed properly. In this case, clean the paper feed rollers. Cleaning will wear out the paper feed rollers, so perform this only when necessary. Make sure that the power is turned on and remove any paper from the rear tray.
The optical sensor reads the unique media `signature` of the paper by measuring inherent optical properties and comparing them with the signatures of other papers. Once the paper is identified, the printer optimizes printing for the particular paper type.
Make sure you are pointing the Bypass tray from the printing settings. Make sure you fill the Bypass tray ONCE you`ve sent the files to the printer. Make sure the user have permissions to print from the Bypass tray. Make sure your Bypass tray is activated in the Printer`s parameters.

Lexmark paper feed problems
ANSWER : On my X204n Lexmark laser printer, it was doing the same thing you described – basically sounded like it was trying to pick up the paper from the tray and then failing after several seconds. When you’d open the paper tray, the paper looked like it had been partially taken up with some black scuff marks on the paper that lined up with the rollers that take up the paper. I inspected the rollers and although they looked a bit smooth and worn, didn’t seem like they should be a problem. However, this particular model has just a rubber tire almost like a car tire – the rubber can come off the hard plastic wheel on the inner portion. So I popped off the two rubber “tires”, turned them inside out and put them back on. When turned inside out, the rubber looked nice and … rubbery and had a lot more grippy feeling to them. The very first printing attempt after that and the paper sucked up perfectly with no problems. I think the problem is solved! So if you have similar “tires” that take up the paper, try flipping them and see if it works for you too.

Lexmark X4650 paper Jamming!!
ANSWER : Well I had two printers that had similar issues – misalignment of paper feed which rendered both printers useless. I shook the Lexmark x4650 a couple of times and then plugged it in and got new paper and voila the misalignment was gone and it actually fed paper like it used to and printed it too.

Lexmark X466 empty tray
ANSWER : The “Load Tray 1 with A4 paper” means the printer is looking for A4 size paper in Tray 1 and that is not what it is detecting. You need to make sure that the paper size that is in the tray matches what the printer is expecting so it understands that it should be looking for a specific size of paper. If you are printing on regular Letter size paper – set the printer tray to Letter instead of A4 and message should go away.

paper drive wont accept paper
ANSWER : There is probably a small scrap of paper stuck at the left edge of the paper path. The paper hits it and skews to the left. The smaller size bypasses it. You need to shove something stiff, like a piece of file folder, down the paper path and attempt to dislodge it.

Paper jam in tray 2 (but no paper pulled from tray) also M476DN models
ANSWER : Isopropyl alcohol is not recommended for rubber rollers. It dries out the rubber and hasten it’s cracking and breaking. It will do nothing to restore the grip. Those rollers are really hard to replace. It would be easy if that dumbass secondary menu really worked. None of the techs I’ve spoke to ever got into it. Everyone I know sends a print job and listens for the roller to rotate into position where you can pull it off.
