How to Identify and Fix Common Problems ?

Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced technical support :

Hold down the 3, 4, and 6 buttons on the keypad. While keeping these buttons held down, power the printer off and then back on. The printer will boot up into “Invalid Code” mode. Let go of the buttons and send the same file to the printer again.
Leave the printer powered off for at least one minute. Power the printer back on. If powering the printer off and on clears the error, continue using the printer but keep an eye on it to see if any printhead errors return. If the printer continues to display a printhead error message, check the message.
Make sure that the printer is on the same network with the computer. Make sure that you are using a known working Ethernet cable. Make sure that the Ethernet cable is connected at the back of the printer to the network router, switch, or other network source to which the computer is also connected.
Diagnostic Trouble Codes, also known as engine fault codes, are five-digit codes that identify a particular problem in the car. These codes are displayed on the scanning tool when it`s connected to the OBD system. The five-digit DTC includes one letter usually followed by four numbers (e.g. P1234).
`Invalid Engine Code` and other service errors prevent the printer`s ability to accept firmware updates. This device behavior is normal since accepting any file type requires the printer to be in a Ready state.
You`ll know fairly quickly if your printhead is causing you problems. If your PC or the LCD screen on your printer is telling you that your ink cartridges are full but no ink is passing through to the paper, then it`s most likely that you are dealing with a clogged printhead.
From the home screen, touch Settings > Device > Restore Factory Defaults. In the Restore Settings menu, select the settings that you want to restore. Touch RESTORE.

This may be caused by the printhead not getting the required power to start due to faulty signal transmission caused by improper insertion of the toner cartridge and imaging unit.

Lexmark X466 empty tray
ANSWER : The “Load Tray 1 with A4 paper” means the printer is looking for A4 size paper in Tray 1 and that is not what it is detecting. You need to make sure that the paper size that is in the tray matches what the printer is expecting so it understands that it should be looking for a specific size of paper. If you are printing on regular Letter size paper – set the printer tray to Letter instead of A4 and message should go away.

Error Code 51.1 says Printer Error No Kidding.lol
ANSWER : Sometimes turning off and on will allow you to print a few pages. The error is a beam detect error. The only real fix is to replace the laser scanner unit. Could be a loose connector on the scanner or DC controller from the scanner. That’s unlikely. You could try the only other free fix which is to open the scanner assy. and clean all the mirrors inside. The dust could obstruct the laser beam enough to cause the detect error.

Lexmark paper feed problems
ANSWER : On my X204n Lexmark laser printer, it was doing the same thing you described – basically sounded like it was trying to pick up the paper from the tray and then failing after several seconds. When you’d open the paper tray, the paper looked like it had been partially taken up with some black scuff marks on the paper that lined up with the rollers that take up the paper. I inspected the rollers and although they looked a bit smooth and worn, didn’t seem like they should be a problem. However, this particular model has just a rubber tire almost like a car tire – the rubber can come off the hard plastic wheel on the inner portion. So I popped off the two rubber “tires”, turned them inside out and put them back on. When turned inside out, the rubber looked nice and … rubbery and had a lot more grippy feeling to them. The very first printing attempt after that and the paper sucked up perfectly with no problems. I think the problem is solved! So if you have similar “tires” that take up the paper, try flipping them and see if it works for you too.
