In 1985, Apple produced their first laser printer, the LaserWriter (later known as LaserWriter I). Apple didn`t make the first consumer laser printer, they made the fourth, after IBM, Xerox, and HP.
The LaserWriter was the first major printer designed by Apple to use the new Snow White design language created by Frog Design.
The Apple Dot Matrix Printer (often shortened to Apple DMP) is a printer manufactured by C. Itoh and sold under Apple label in 1982 for the Apple II series, Lisa, and the Apple III.
LaserWriter (March 1985), included 13 fonts in ROM and 300-dpi resolution.

Gary Starkweather prototyped the first laser printer by modifying a standard Xerox office copier. It printed 60 pages a minute at 500 dots per inch. It took almost five years to produce a commercial version: the huge, expensive 9700.

A semiconductor diode laser is currently used in laser printers as the light source.

HyperCard was created by Bill Atkinson following an LSD trip. Work for it began in March 1985 under the name of WildCard (hence its creator code of WILD).
printer, also called computer printer, electronic device that accepts text files or images from a computer and transfers them to a medium such as paper or film. It can be connected directly to the computer or indirectly via a network.
Specifically, Gary Starkweather invented the laser printer in 1969 at the Xerox research lab in Webster, New York.
The HP LaserJet was the first desktop laser printer, introduced in 1984 at about $3,500. Nothing like it existed previously, and it created a totally new printer market—similar to what the HP-35 handheld calculator had done 12 years earlier.
The IBM 3800 is a discontinued continuous forms laser printer designed and manufactured by IBM. It is significant as a product because it was both the first laser printer manufactured by IBM, and the first commercially available laser printer.
Like a photocopier, laser printers read the electronic data from your computer and beam this information onto a drum inside the printer, which builds up a pattern of static electricity. This attracts a dry powder called toner onto the paper which is then fused using heated rollers.
Theodore Maiman of Hughes Research Laboratories, with the first working laser. Theodore Maiman developed the first working laser at Hughes Research Lab in 1960, and his paper describing the operation of the first laser was published in Nature three months later.
Sandile Ngcobo, the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) scientist responsible for developing the world`s first digital laser, gave what is probably the shortest speech in the history of press briefings at the announcement of the breakthrough this week.
Later, Gould himself would conceive and design one of the most significant inventions of the 20th century: the laser. In 1957, Gould was working toward a PhD in Physics at Columbia University, where Physics research was booming.
