How to Identify and Fix Common Problems ?
Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced technical support :
1. Causes of Multiple Sheet Feed. Multiple pages being fed through the printer overlapping or in a stack occurs when the media fails to separate correctly in the tray. Common causes are issues with the print media, incorrectly adjusted paper trays and worn or contaminated feed or separator rollers.
If your printer is continuously feeding blank sheets of paper (meaning that it will just keep spitting out blank sheets without stopping, even when you power it off and back on) you probably have a sticking pickup solenoid.
Click the General tab, and then click Printing Preferences. Click the Basics tab, and then click About. Locate the page count at the bottom of the About This Driver screen.
Ink or toner cartridges that have become dislodged from their proper place. The wrong paper size loaded in the input tray. Clogged printer head nozzles causing a build-up of blocked ink or toner. Blank pages in the document you`re printing.
A paper feed issue can occur for several reasons, such as dusty or contaminated paper rollers, the condition of the paper in the tray, or even issues with the software. To resolve the issue, try each solution in this document, and then use the steps in this section to print a self-test report.
Page 1 always starts on the right side and each side of the sheet counts as one page. So, when you flip page 1 over, you`ll find page 2 on the back (now on the left-hand side). Page 3 is on the right, and when you flip it over, page 4 will be on the left, 5 on the right, and so on.
A typical toner cartridge will produce anywhere between 2,500 and 4,000 pages, based on a coverage of 5% (roughly third of a page of double-spaced text). Dense pages filled with small font text or graphics will dramatically reduce this output and you may only get up to 1,000 pages per cartridge.
Clogged Nozzle
One or more clogged nozzles preventing ink from getting to the page is the most common cause of a printer skipping lines. Through normal use, small amounts of ink can collect and dry in the printhead blocking the nozzles.
The Print Spooler is software built into the Windows operating system that temporarily stores print jobs in the computer`s memory until the printer is ready to print them. In some circumstances you may need to stop and/or restart the service.
Adjust the print settings: Check your printer`s settings to make sure it`s not set to print multiple copies or double-sided printing. Update or reinstall the printer drivers: Outdated or corrupted drivers can cause printing issues.
Right Click on the Printer Icon in “Devices & Printers, then click on “Device Settings”, scroll down to “Installable Options” and then disable “Mopier Mode”.
“Mopier Mode” is a setting that controls how many copies of the print job need to be sent to the printer. In general, HP LaserJets with finishers (Sorters/Staplers) will require that this setting is Enabled, while LaserJets with a single output tray will require that this setting be Disabled.
Paper Feed Rollers
Created with a blending technology developed based on our extensive experience, these materials offer both a high friction coefficient retaining characteristic and superb abrasion resistance. We also mass-produce belt-shaped samples, in addition to ordinary rolls.
Misfeeds occur frequently. The number of sheets loaded exceeds the capacity of the printer. Load paper only as high as the upper limit markings on the side fences of the paper tray, or the markings on the paper guides of the bypass tray.
Double printing can occur for several possible reasons including an improperly seated ink tank, a misaligned print head, and a dirty encoder stip. Select one of the links below to get detailed instructions to address the issue. Check that all ink tanks are seated properly. Refer to Replace an ink tank.

HP Laserjet 2200, Tray 2 Pickup Problem, Gears Clicking
ANSWER : Definitely not a solenoid problem. I’ve worked on tens of thousands of printers and never replaced a single solenoid. You probably knocked something loose when you installed the pickup roller. Maybe something to do with the gear on the end of the pickup roller shaft. You’ll need to take the gear assembly off to be able to see it.

What repair needs to be done for a "50 needs repair" message on an HP Laserjet IIIP?
ANSWER : I don’t know what you mean by good toner cartridges. They haven’t been built in about 10 years, so if they are new OEMs in the box, they are guaranteed to fail. The 50 error on that printer is mostly a burned out fuser lamp. This site was sold, so as you can see, there are no more kits available.
