An Er/04, Er/05, or Er/06 error message indicates a paper jam. Find and clear the printer of any jammed paper, or reset the printer if the printer has no jammed paper.

The error code E06 means Cover Open.

The printer is either low in toner, the density is set too low, or the Economode may be turned on. Remove the toner cartridge and shake it. This will redistribute the toner and often will temporarily solve the problem. However, this usually indicates it is time to install a new cartridge.

If you see “Scanner Error 6” on your control panel for the M375 or M475, please check to see what version of firmware you are using (click the Information icon (blue circle with “i” in it) on the control panel to display the firmware version). If it is older than 20120626, you will want to upgrade your firmware.

Most printers will stop working when they`re out of paper, ink or toner, or if the unit detects an issue with the ink or toner cartridge. When this occurs, you might receive an error message or notice blinking green or amber lights on your printer.

If the thermal cutout has operated the circuit will sense a lack of power and the controller will fault (Error 6). The controller will not attempt to recover from this condition, it will need to have the power turned off and back on again to clear the fault once the thermal cutout has cooled below 38°C.
