How to Identify and Fix Common Problems ?

Dust, paper fiber, and other debris might accumulate on the pickup roller and cause paper feed issues. Clean the pickup roller inside the printer, and then try to print again. Turn off the printer. Remove the paper stack from the input tray.

A paper feed issue can occur for several reasons, such as dusty or contaminated paper rollers, the condition of the paper in the tray, or even issues with the software. To resolve the issue, try each solution in this document, and then use the steps in this section to print a self-test report.
Misfeeds occur frequently. The number of sheets loaded exceeds the capacity of the printer. Load paper only as high as the upper limit markings on the side fences of the paper tray, or the markings on the paper guides of the bypass tray. Misfeeds occur frequently.

“Manual Feed” is an indication that your machine`s Tray Setting or the paper source in the printer driver has been set to Manual Feed, but there`s no paper loaded in the manual feed slot. 1. Load a sheet of paper in the manual feed slot. The document should print and clear the error message.

Improperly Loading Paper into the Device

Loading paper that is stuck together, frayed, curled or bent can cause a jam. Overloading the paper tray, loading different thicknesses of paper in the tray or using paper that isn`t appropriate for your particular printer can all result in a jammed printer.

Moisture in the paper will cause the printer to jam. You are using recycled or low-quality paper with excessive paper dust. The dust from the paper can build up on the rollers and cause a paper jam. You are using paper with bent corners or printed on before.
Restoring the factory-set defaults returns most of the settings to the factory defaults. It will not reset the page count, tray size, or language.
Reset. Resetting the printer stops printing and clears the current print job received from the active interface. You may want to reset the printer when there is a problem with the print job itself and the printer cannot print successfully.
How to Manually Stop and Start the Print Spooler. Click the Start button and select Run. Type Command (Figure 1 [English only]) and then click OK to display the Command Prompt (Figure 2 [English only]). In the Command Prompt type, net stop spooler, then press Enter to Stop the Print Spooler.

My printer feeds through one piece of paper all the way and then a half piece of paper and stops. I pull out the paper to stop the paper jam and then it prints but sounds rough. After printing, it doesn't feed the paper all the way through.

HP Laserjet 6MP wont feed paper
ANSWER : I had a similar paper pickup problem on laserjet 6mp. The printer would go through start-up sequence fine but when it received a print job you could here the main gears/rollers turning but no clicking from paper pickup solenoid, then eventually error lights would come one . I incorrectly assumed it was an error with the paper pickup mechanism and wasted a whole day taking the printer apart and replacing the paper pick mechanism. Long story short, if I had bothered to figure out the secondary error light codes from the start, I would have realized it was just a bad fuser and would not have wasted so much time.

HP 2200 – Won't feed paper and squeals
ANSWER : My suggestion: laser mirror motor has dry bearing (the squeal) and the printer won’t feed paper until it gets up to speed. Someplace on fixyourownprinter is an article explaining how to get to the motor & put a drop of TriFlow Synthetic PTFE oil on it. Worked for me…

paper feed issue
ANSWER : Stuck paper pickup solenoid. It is mounted on the side of the printer and is supposed to engage and allow the roller to turn one revolution. You need to take the cover off, remove the solenoid. Take the spring loaded plate off and scrape off all the goo that it is stuck too. Then you should replace it with some thin sticky backed felt available at the local hardware store.
