To set the paper at the accurate position in printers, The feeding timing needs to be very accurate. Solenoids are used to control the timing of the paper feeding.
In general, a 49 service error is a situation where the printer cannot process a file that has been sent. In some cases the file is corrupted and in other cases the printer`s firmware simply cannot interpret that file.
A 49 error typically occurs when the printer attempts to perform an action that the firmware is not capable of performing or might not be designed to handle, for example: Printing files that include unsupported printer commands. Interfacing with a third-party solution that was not designed to work with the printer.
When a solenoid is first energized, its coil receives a pulse of high inrush current that decreases as the plunger closes. If the plunger does not close, the high inrush current continues, which can cause the coil to overheat and burn out. This is the most common cause of solenoid failure and spotting it is easy.
Solenoid coil failure can be caused by a number of factors. Applying an incorrect voltage to the coil will cause it to fail and may cause the coil to burn out. Electrical surges or spikes may also damage the coil. Burnt out coils cannot be repaired and will need to be replaced.

Most times the 49 error is a firmware error and not a driver error. It is usually casued by a bad print job trying to print and confusing the printer. You need to disconnect the printer from the computer and/or network and turn the power on and see if the printer comes to ready.
This error can be caused by having insufficient memory on the device. e.g. multiple apps are installed on the MFP at the same time. Note 💡 It is recommended for the PaperCut partner to do the steps below, as opposed to the end customer, as the MFP will need to be reconfigured with PaperCut Hive and PaperCut MF.
A “49. DE. 05 Webkit encountered a fatal error, unable to recover`” error message displays on the control panel of an HP LaserJet Enterprise or an HP PageWide Enterprise printer with an installed software solution, causing the printer to automatically restart or prompts for a restart.
A 49.38. 0C indicates an internal firmware error has occurred. The root cause of this can vary depending on the version of firmware running on the device. Knowing what version your HP LaserJet CP5525 is running would help us in diagnosing the issue.
This error might happen at any time for multiple reasons. The most common causes are due to the printer being asked to perform an action that the firmware is not capable of, and might not have been designed to perform, such as: Printing files with unsupported programming commands.
They can be used to slow the flow of electricity in a circuit, making them an example of an inductor, or an impedance device. Cars also have a type of solenoid that is really just a motor that happens to work using a coil of wire. The job of the solenoid is to turn electrical energy into movement.
The main use of solenoid is as a switch for power. They are used in inductors, valves, antennas, etc. Its application is in varied fields like medical, industrial use, locking systems, automotive, etc. It is used to control a valve electrically.
A pneumatic solenoid valve is a type of valve that is controlled by an electric current. An electromagnet within the valve is energized to create a magnetic field that moves a plunger. This movement is used to open or close the valve thereby controlling the flow of the medium through it.

Hp laserjet 2420dn
ANSWER : I would suspect the fixing film has wear. You can prove the theory by doing a half-stop test. This stops the print before it enters the fixing film assembly. Load paper in the drop down MF tray in the front. Send a print job and when the tail end starts to enter, open the cartridge lid on top to stop it. Then remove the toner cartridge and look at the paper. If you see the marks, it is from the toner cartridge. If you don’t, it would be coming from the fixing film since the paper hasn’t entered it.
