How to Identify and Fix Common Problems ?

Creases and folds in the paper are normally due to one of the following conditions: The paper is not correctly loaded in the paper tray. You are printing on a special type of paper or other media. The paper has absorbed too much moisture from the surrounding air.
Paper pushed too far into the input tray when it is loaded, might feed into the printer incorrectly, causing the paper to tear. Paper stacks loaded into the input tray with too many or too few sheets of paper, might feed into the printer incorrectly, causing the paper to tear.
If roll paper does not feed, cut the end straight across and uncurl it by rolling it backward, if necessary. Then reload the paper. If thick media does not feed, make sure you are loading it straight into the product, not at an angle. If paper jams when you print on both sides of the paper, try loading fewer sheets.
Wet your paper with a moist sponge or a piece of cloth. As an alternative, dip the paper in water and place it on your table. The water makes the paper stick to your working surface.
It is recommended that you maintain constant temperatures and relative humidity. Store unused envelopes in their packaging to avoid the effects of moisture and dryness which can affect print quality and cause wrinkling. Excessive moisture can cause the envelopes to seal before or during printing.
A printer printing lines on the page are normally caused by a blocked, dirty, or damaged print head. Blocked ink cartridge nozzles, or not removing protective seals correctly when you installed a new ink cartridge can also cause missing lines of print.
Dampen a cloth—be sure it is barely damp to avoid damaging your poster–with distilled water, gently apply it to the back of the creased area for a few minutes. Remove the cloth and add weight to the wrinkled site to apply pressure and help the crease smooth out.
When it isn`t working properly, the quality of your prints can suffer. Signs of a bad transfer roller include streaking, squealing, jamming and odors emanating from the printer. Troubleshoot your transfer rollers to restore your prints to their normal high quality.
Dust, paper fiber, and other debris might accumulate on the pick rollers and cause paper feed issues. To help prevent paper feed issues, clean the rollers inside the printer and in the duplexer (if equipped). If the other steps in this document fail to resolve the issue, then reset the printer.
Article Talk. In geometry and topology, crumpling is the process whereby a sheet of paper or other two-dimensional manifold undergoes disordered deformation to yield a three-dimensional structure comprising a random network of ridges and facets with variable density.
Lightly mist the paper with clean water using a spray bottle (do not soak the paper – only a light mist is needed) Place the misted paper between 2 sheets of parchment or tissue paper. Carefully place a board or heavy book over the paper and let sit for 24 hours.
You can use the same technique that you would if you were ironing clothing. Move the iron over the cloth-covered paper in small circular motions, making sure that you don`t let it linger in any one spot for too long. Every so often, stop, lift the cloth, and check to see if the wrinkles are gone.
Set the iron to a low heat setting and place a piece of parchment paper over the wrinkled area of the laminated paper. Gently run the iron over the parchment paper until the wrinkles start to smooth out. Be careful not to overheat the laminated paper, as this can cause it to warp or melt.
Paper curl is caused by excess humidity in the paper. When paper passes through the fuser, the combination of heat and pressure required to bond toner to the paper also causes curling because of excess moisture in the paper. All laser printer are susceptible to this.
Printers may produce poor quality printing if they are exposed to too much heat. Don`t place your printers in a high-temperature area or near other devices that produce excess heat. In addition, keep them away from windows, where heat and humidity can be high.
Streaking is usually caused by a worn out drum unit or spent toner cartridge. Drum units are a consumable and only need to be replaced after the use of 3 or 4 toners. Not all printers use a separate toner and drum unit.
If your laser printer is causing horizontal black lines you either have a problem with the optics or the drum. Cleaning the optics and replacing the drum should fix the problem in most cases.
Banding can occur if you use inkjet media that isn`t compatible with your printer and ink. Other possible causes of banding include: (1) using the incorrect media settings in the print software; (2) misaligned printheads; and (3) clogged nozzles in the printhead.
Use isopropyl alcohol or ethanol according to the manufacturer`s safety guidelines, as applicable. Wipe the roller with a lint-free cloth dipped in isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. After cleaning the roller, make sure that no lint or other material remains on the roller.
When the paper is just damp, cover it with a large, heavy book or other flat object to press wrinkles out of the paper. Microwave the paper for about 15 seconds to evaporate some of the water. Afterwards, press the paper flat with a heavy item to get rid of wrinkles.
A bone folder is a dull edged handtool used to fold and crease material in crafts such as bookbinding, card making, origami and other paper crafts where a sharp crease or fold is needed.
Take a cotton swab and moisten it with 70% isopropyl alcohol. Gently rub the paper feed roller in a circular motion, using the moistened cotton swab to remove any toner buildup. If needed, replace the cotton swab with a fresh one to ensure effective cleaning.
For cleaning, HP recommends using HP Equipment Cleaning Wipes, but you can use an HP-approved lint-free wipe and deionized or distilled water. Note: If dark spots appear on back side of prints, clean drum screen. Note: If minilab prints more than 2000 prints each day, clean drum screen up to twice daily.
Most laser printers will inform you when the fuser unit needs to be replaced. An easy way to identify when a fuser unit needs to be replaced is when smudging or smearing on your printout begins. Smudging and smearing occur when the fuser stops heating the toner particles enough to melt them onto the page fully.

Paper jam in tray 2 (but no paper pulled from tray) also M476DN models
ANSWER : Isopropyl alcohol is not recommended for rubber rollers. It dries out the rubber and hasten it’s cracking and breaking. It will do nothing to restore the grip. Those rollers are really hard to replace. It would be easy if that dumbass secondary menu really worked. None of the techs I’ve spoke to ever got into it. Everyone I know sends a print job and listens for the roller to rotate into position where you can pull it off.

HP Laserjet 6MP wont feed paper
ANSWER : I had a similar paper pickup problem on laserjet 6mp. The printer would go through start-up sequence fine but when it received a print job you could here the main gears/rollers turning but no clicking from paper pickup solenoid, then eventually error lights would come one . I incorrectly assumed it was an error with the paper pickup mechanism and wasted a whole day taking the printer apart and replacing the paper pick mechanism. Long story short, if I had bothered to figure out the secondary error light codes from the start, I would have realized it was just a bad fuser and would not have wasted so much time.
