Ink cartridge issues

If you have been using the same ink cartridge for over a year, it can dry out, or the print heads can become gummed up with ink residue. While you can try cleaning the print head, we recommend replacing the ink cartridge for the best results.

Align the print head. Make sure you are using genuine Epson ink cartridges. If you use non-Epson ink cartridges, printouts may be faint, or the color of the printed image may be uneven because the remaining ink level is not correctly detected. Make sure your ink cartridges have not expired.
If your printer`s status displays “Printer in error state,” there may be a problem with the printer itself. Make sure the printer is turned on and connected to your PC by Wi-Fi or cable. Check it for low paper or ink, and be sure the cover isn`t open and the paper isn`t jammed.
Inconsistent extrusion can usually be identified by watching your printer closely as it prints. For example, if the printer is printing a straight line that is 20mm long, but you notice that the extrusion seems rather bumpy or seems to vary in size, then you are likely experiencing this issue.
If your printer is spitting out pages full of strange characters, symbols, or strange formatting, your inkjet printer drivers may be outdated, incompatible with your operating system or corrupt. Drivers are important to the proper function of your inkjet printer and it is best to check for updates regularly.
If you notice white or dark lines in your prints (also called banding), try these solutions before you reprint: Run a nozzle check to see if any of the print head nozzles are clogged. Then clean the print head, if necessary. Make sure the paper type setting matches the type of paper you loaded.
Make sure your paper meets the specifications for your product. If paper dust builds up on the rollers, they may lose traction and become unable to feed paper properly. Clean the paper guide. If roll paper does not feed, cut the end straight across and uncurl it by rolling it backward, if necessary.
Select Settings > Guide Functions > Paper Mismatch. You see a screen like this: Set the Paper Mismatch setting to Off. Select Close to exit.
The common causes of “General Error” are: Something in the path of the printhead (like bits of paper or something that`s been dropped in) Incompatible cartridges (Printer can`t/won`t recognise them) Autohead Cleaning & insufficient ink in cartridge(s) [PX/TX700W <-> Artisan 837 models]
The common defects in extrusion process are: Improper System Engineering/Installation, Improper Operation, Resin Defects, Improper Materials Addition, Surging, Poor mixing, Melt toughness or fracture, Overheating, Moisture release, Trapped air, Contamination.
One of the major problems in hot extrusion is the effect of hot metal on the equipment. Various methods are used to protect the dies. The die may be changed and allowed to cool for each piece.
One of the things I look for is if you pull the print head a good ways off the bed and have it extrude. It should just squirt plastic straight down. If it bends sharply in one direction, or even curls back on itself, then that is a sign of damage.
To adjust the extrusion tension, you will need to first loosen the idler screw and load the filament so it doesn`t move forward on its own. Then, you will begin tightening the screw until your filament has been gripped just enough by the extruder to push through. Trial and error will bring the best results.
For Windows

Right-click the printer icon on the taskbar, and then select the Print Head Alignment. Or access the printer software, click the Maintenance tab, and then click the Print Head Alignment button. The printer prints test patterns that you use to check the print head alignment. Here are sample printouts.

Do a hard reset on your printer. To do this you just need to turn off your printer, unplug for a few minutes and then plug the printer again. If that still doesn`t work, try turning the printer and your computer off, and then start it back up again. Try uninstalling and then reinstalling your printer driver.
There are four primary causes for horizontal banding on prints from inkjet printers, (1) nozzle clogs, (2) mis-aligned print heads, (3) low quality print settings (4) incorrect paper thickness settings. Below we will describe each of these causes for horizontal banding as well as ways to try and fix them.
Make sure there is paper in the tray(s), check the ink or toner cartridges aren`t empty, the USB cable is plugged in or the printer is connected to Wi-Fi. And if it is a network or wireless printer, try using a USB cable instead. In our experience, some Wi-Fi printers are unreliable in terms of their connection.
Here are the most common causes of a printer printing faded text or images: Low ink or toner levels. Toner sticking to the fuser roller or problems with the transfer roller. Low ink or toner density settings.

First, check the print speed setting of your printer. If you have it set to draft mode, it`s going to give you a lighter, less defined print. For an easy fix, shift your print settings to a regular print mode.
