3800 Model 001 The model 001 was announced on April 15, 1975, and first shipped July 1976. It had a print resolution of 144 pels per inch (or dots per inch, pels are print elements) vertically and 180 pels per inch horizontally.
IBM developed and marketed the first dot matrix printer in 1957. Shinshu Seiki Co., which became Epson, developed the first electronic mini-printer in 1968. The first dot matrix impact printer was developed by Centronics in 1970.
Line printers work on continuous forms of paper rather than individually cut sheets. They print one line at a time instead of having the print head move back and forth across the width of the page. Drum printers and line printers are the two common types of line printers.
Around 1450, Johannes Gutenberg introduced the first movable type printing system in Europe. He advanced innovations in casting type based on a matrix and hand mould, adaptations to the screw-press, the use of an oil-based ink, and the creation of a softer and more absorbent paper.
In 1949 IBM introduced the IBM 407 Accounting Machine with a wheel print mechanism that could print 150 alphanumeric lines a minute. Each of the 120 print positions had its own type wheel which rotated under electromechanical control.
The two main types of line printers are chain printers and drum printers.
: a high-speed printing device (as for a computer) that prints each line as a unit rather than character by character.
The first electronic printer was the EP-101, created by Japanese company Epson in 1968. It was a tiny printer, only 164 millimetres in width, 102 millimetres in height and 135 millimetres in depth and weighing just 2.5 kilograms. The printer was created by Epson (Shinshu Seiki Co.)
Goldsmith and inventor Johannes Gutenberg was a political exile from Mainz, Germany when he began experimenting with printing in Strasbourg, France in 1440. He returned to Mainz several years later and by 1450, had a printing machine perfected and ready to use commercially: The Gutenberg press.

IBM is known for its hardware and software products, including computers, servers, storage systems and networking equipment. It also provides consulting, technology and business services, such as cloud computing, data analytics and artificial intelligence (AI).
UNIX, multiuser computer operating system.
A merger of three 19th-century companies—the Tabulating Machine Company, the International Time Recording Company and the Computing Scale Company of America—creates the Computing-Tabulating-Recording Company (CTR) on June 16, 1911. CTR is the precursor to IBM.
Woodblock Printing – 200AD
It`s credited as the earliest form of printing and was first developed in China around 200AD. As the name suggests, it involves carving a design into a block of wood. Once the wood is carved, the raised part is then inked and paper (or fabric, as it was) is placed on top.
IBM introduces the IBM Personal Computer on Aug. 12. Xerox Corp. ships a new computer, the Xerox Star, which introduces the graphical user interface concept and uses a mouse for the first time.
IBM introduces the 350 RAMAC, the first computer disk storage system. In less than a second, the 350 RAMAC`s “random access” arm retrieves data stored on any of 50 spinning disks.
