How to Identify and Fix Common Problems ?

If your printer is spitting out pages full of strange characters, symbols, or strange formatting, your inkjet printer drivers may be outdated, incompatible with your operating system or corrupt. Drivers are important to the proper function of your inkjet printer and it is best to check for updates regularly.
When the print driver is corrupted, the target printer interprets the data stream as random characters. This problem can usually be solved by re-installing the print driver or checking the printer setup in the Control Panel.
Faint, streaky or spotty prints are all common signs of a clog but a simple cleaning can usually get your HP ink cartridges working again. Printheads clog due to infrequent cartridge use. If you regularly go a few weeks without printing, your cartridges will eventually dry out and need to be replaced.
Usually a quick paper setting adjustment will clear up a ghosting issue right away. Run a cleaning – Most printers have a cleaning function built into the machine. Run this a couple of times to attempt to clear up the printing issue. Inspect the drum – Sometimes excess toner powder can stick to the drum.
Dots are typically caused by foreign material inside the machine (for example paper dust, glue from labels or envelopes, paper clips, staples) sticking to or damaging the surface of the drum. Toner builds up on or sticks to these areas on the drum and creates black dots on the printed pages.
Paper pushed too far into the input tray when it is loaded, might feed into the printer incorrectly, causing the paper to tear. Paper stacks loaded into the input tray with too many or too few sheets of paper, might feed into the printer incorrectly, causing the paper to tear.
The character fonts may not be embedded. Non-standard font encoding may have been used by the PDF producer. The characters affected may not map properly to unicode. Typically this issue must be resovled back in the authoring file and a new PDF produced.
Ghost prints happen when the drum or fuser unit within your printer become faulty. Because a fault with this element won`t heat the particles of the toner to a high enough temperature, the marks being made on the paper are much lighter in colour and appear more faded than typical documents.
When printing on paper that is even slightly moist from humidity, ink can become smudged on the paper, colors can run together, and text or images can be distorted. Check if the paper is moist and try replacing the paper in the printer to see if print quality improves.
Shadow printing is a printing technique that creates a lighter shade of the text off centered to make the text appear to have a shadow beneath it.
Dirty printheads

Dirty nozzles, leftover toner, debris, or dust can interfere with your printer and cause ghosting. Run the printer`s built-in cleaning function multiple times, and print a test page between each. Repeat this process until the ghosting issue disappears.

Ghosting is usually considered the presence of a faint image of a design in solid printing areas that is not intended to receive that portion of the image. This print defect is always in the machine direction and usually is a repeated pattern.
What causes the spots? The usual cause is a dust particle that falls on or is stuck to the paper. Then as the paper runs through the printer, the ink gets laid on top of the particle instead of the paper surface. Eventually the particle falls off leaving a white spot where it blocked the ink.
About Flexo Print Distortion

Distortion in flexographic printing occurs when the (relatively) soft material of the printing plate is wrapped around the hard cylinder while being mounted on the press.

Distortion printing is the process of printing a distorted version of an image onto a sheet of plastic and systematically vacuum forming the sheet on a mold so that specific areas of the printed image appear in corresponding areas of the resulting three-dimensional large part.
This noise can be due to any one of the following: A piece of paper, or other obstruction, is stuck somewhere inside the printer. One of the toner cartridges or photo developer units may be installed incorrectly or may be damaged. A door or cover may not be closed completely.
Smears and smudges on the paper can be caused by dirt, dust, or toner accumulated on the rollers or transfer belt as it passes through the paper. Cleaning your printer, particularly the rollers, is one of the options for removing black markings from paper.
Gibberish is speech or writing that belongs to no known language, consisting of sounds that are not actual words. Gibberish is a disparaging term, often applied to language that is made meaningless through the overuse of technical or legal terms. The origin of the word gibberish is unknown.
: unintelligible or meaningless language: : a technical or esoteric (see esoteric sense 1) language.
The Adobe PDF printer may try to use system fonts instead of the custom SnapGene font. To correct this problem, open the preferences for the Adobe PDF printer, choose the “Adobe PDF Settings” tab, and turn off the option labeled “Rely on system fonts only; do not use document fonts”. Click here for more information.
Printouts from Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Acrobat Reader, or Adobe Reader can lose some characters when a PDF file does not contain the fonts that are in the document. You may be able to resolve this issue by using the `Print As Image` function within the Adobe application.
Ghost imaging, often called cloning, is a software-driven data backup process that copies the contents of a computer hard disk in a single compressed file or set of files, referred to as an image.
Tactile printing is the process of adding a raised surface to a substrate, creating a texture that can be sensed with touch.
The warranty period for the printheads is 1000 cc of ink through the printhead (previously 700 cc), or the expiration date printed on the printhead, whichever comes first. However, printheads may last much longer than 1000 cc of ink. On average, printheads should last through 2-3 ink cartridges.

Print file sent but no printing occurs
ANSWER : Been working on these since they first were released. Never seen a problem like yours. If it happens again, try doing an engine test, as it bypasses the formatter board. The engine test is located at the right side of the manual tray opening. Look for a hole in the side wall. Stick something like a paper clip into it to actuate the test button. It will then print a lined test page. If it does that, then it points to the formatter board as the cause of your problem.

Prints blank pages, won't print from computer
ANSWER : Don’t know why you replaced the fuser, but assuming you had print before, then it must have been something you did during the procedure. Only thing I can suggest is to recheck your work. Just because you reinstalled a connector doesn’t mean that it is seated firmly enough to work. Any flat ribbon connectors that you removed and reinstalled, check to see that the contacts are all flat and not peeled back.
