Restart devices

If your printer connects to a Wi-Fi network, disconnect your computer or mobile device from the network name (SSID), and then reconnect it to the same network name your printer is connected to. If the printer is available and has a ready status, the issue is resolved.

Your printer should have been packaged with a USB cable regardless of whether it is a wireless or wired printer. Plug the cable into your printer and your computer`s USB port. The direct linking should trigger your computer to recognize the printer and start up the software needed to complete the installation.
In Windows, search for and open Add a printer or scanner . Click Add a printer or scanner, and then wait for Windows to locate available printers. If your printer is found, click it, and then click Add device to complete the driver installation.
Why isn`t my printer connecting to my computer? The causes are various. It`s likely that your USB cable is damaged or your printer`s not detected by your computer. Maybe there`s something wrong with your printer driver.
Make sure that both ends of the USB cable are correctly inserted into the computer and the printer. Try disconnecting and reconnecting the USB cable at both ends. Disconnect the printer and the computer and reconnect them. Try another USB port if available.
Plug the cable into your printer and your computer`s USB port. The direct linking should trigger your computer to recognize the printer and start up the software needed to complete the installation. If your computer is still unresponsive, make sure you have enabled automatic device installations.
1: Check Printer Power, Cables, and Paper

Check that the correct paper is properly loaded into the printer and is not jammed. Replacing damaged cables, plugging in loose or disconnected cables, and fixing paper jams as necessary may resolve the issue.

Select the Start button, then select Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners. Under Add printers & scanners, select Add a printer or scanner. Choose the printer you want, and then select Add Device. If you don`t see the printer you want, select The printer that I want isn`t listed.
Check the USB cable for damage and recommended length, and then restart your printer and computer. Turn off the printer and the computer. Disconnect the USB cable from the computer and printer, and then inspect the cable. If the cable is damaged or longer than 3 m (9 ft 10 in), replace it.
From the Home screen of the printer control panel, swipe to touch the Settings icon. Touch the General menu, and then touch Enable Device USB. Touch Enable.
Bottom line: While WiFi is the most convenient way to connect a computer to a wireless printer, it isn`t the best way unless you need to print from your mobile devices or from various locations using a laptop. When either method would work for you, it`s best to always opt for a direct cable connection.
Most printers use the same USB cables that other USB devices use to connect to your computer. USB`s development was driven by the need to create a connection standard to replace the myriad serial, parallel, and other cables previously used to connect peripherals to computers.
You will need to use the printer cable that your printer supports. So if your printer uses serial ports, you will need a serial cable. If your computer supports USB, a USB printer cable is a way to go. Almost all printers today support the USB standard and use USB printer cables.
The Cable Matters USB-C to USB-B cable is specifically designed to connect existing printers and scanners to newly released computers with USB-C or Thunderbolt 3. It supports legacy USB 2.0 devices with a standard Type-B USB port to a host computer with the small form factor Type-C.
The average lifespan of a printer is around 3-5 years. With proper upkeep and maintenance, some printers can last longer, but eventually your machine will need an upgrade.
Instead of adding the printer to the existing network, you may attempt to print via Wi-Fi Direct. In case this does not work as well and you refuse to use HP Smart, it`s on you to bring the right drivers and install them manually.
Many people ask whether a printer can run without the driver, and the simple answer, as we have come to observe, is, No. Without connecting a driver, your printer will not connect to any device, PC, or laptop. Besides, a printer driver allows your printer to perform optimally without any problems or errors.
1. On the printer display home screen, select the “set up” button (it looks like a gear). 2. Select “settings” > “device settings” > “reset settings” > “reset all” > “OK” and then “Yes.”
The location of the driver store is – C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore. copied to their final destination during the device driver installation.
To install a printer without a disc, you`ll need a USB cable (either one for Windows or one for Mac) and in some cases, you may also need to download software from the manufacturer`s website.
Make sure your Wi-Fi network and printer setup meet connection requirements. Restart the printer and the computer or mobile device to clear possible error conditions. Make sure the printer is not connected to a computer with a USB cable.
To fix the error code 0x0000011b related to networked or shared printers, Microsoft says you should disable the print spooler privacy settings on both the Client PC (from which you work) and Print Server (Workstation to which the printer is attached).
Error 0x0000011b usually occurs when trying to print something using a network-shared printer. According to user reports, error 0x0000011b started occurring on Windows 10 after installing security updates KB5005568, KB5005566, and KB5005565, which are aimed at protecting from Windows Print Spooler Spoofing.
The only permanent solution to the 0x0000011B error is to install the latest Windows Update which fixes the issue. For now, you can try uninstalling the update or disabling the problematic security feature from the Registry. Other workarounds include installing the printer manually.
