How to Identify and Fix Common Problems ?

The common reasons for this issue are various, for instance, the paper input tray is overloaded, dust or moisture can affect the paper feed or paper pick rollers, the printer driver is old, etc. Thus, the printer cannot detect the paper that has been inserted into the tray.
Check the paper rollers and clean any particles of dust or dirt if you continue getting error messages indicating there is no paper in the printer. Make sure the stack of papers isn`t crumpled or bowed. Remove the stack of papers and replace the tray. Replace the paper and take it out again.
The paper tray is empty or overloaded. The paper is curled. The print side, or shiny side, of the paper is not loaded in the paper tray face up. For photo paper, always load the rougher side of the paper facing down.
With dot matrix printers, paper is often feed through pins on a wheel that grab and slowly move paper through the printer. With inkjet and other page printers, paper is fed through the printer with rollers that grab and move the paper through the printer.
Slide the paper all the way into the printer. The leading edge of the paper will stop at the Paper Drive Roller. Locate the Paper Sensor/OOPs sensor on the right side of the paper path. It can be seen from the top of the printer with the Top Cover open and has red, black, and blue wires attached to it.
One sensor is located in the printer carriage. A second sensor—the Auto Sense sensor—is located in the back of the printer near the paper `clean out` area. Each sensor performs a specific set of media detection functions.
Inkjet printers usually have printer rollers located on the bottom, above the paper tray. Remove the paper tray and feel around the top of the cavity to find the rollers. The rollers should turn freely.
A piece of paper stuck in the paper tray or inside the printer can create a paper jam. Paper jams can occur for a variety of reasons, such as overloading the paper tray, loading different thicknesses of paper in the tray, or using paper that isn`t appropriate for your particular printer.
The Print Spooler is software built into the Windows operating system that temporarily stores print jobs in the computer`s memory until the printer is ready to print them. In some circumstances you may need to stop and/or restart the service.
If the paper feed rollers are dirty or paper powder is attached to it, paper may not be fed properly. In this case, clean the paper feed rollers. Cleaning will wear out the paper feed rollers, so perform this only when necessary. Make sure that the power is turned on and remove any paper from the rear tray.
Pickup rollers, often called feed or separation rollers, are used to pickup the paper from the tray and feed it to the printer. Separation pads are made to assist the pickup rollers by applying tension so that the paper is pushed to the printer.
Capacitive sensors can detect objects that have a dielectric constant that is different from air. Hence, these sensors can detect objects made from a wide variety of materials such as plastic, paper, wood, etc.
To calibrate the scanner

Go to the front panel and tap the Settings icon , then Scanner preferences > Calibrate scanner. Follow the instructions in the front panel.

The first sensor, “I,” detects if the printer needs ink. The second sensor, “P,” detects if the printer needs paper. The third sensor, “J,” detects if the printer is jammed.
In conclusion, it is important that the paper size mismatches can be easily overridden with a few simple steps: Check the printer settings to ensure to select the correct size. Ensure the document is properly formatted for the selected size. Double-check the page setup to ensure the paper size is correct.
The “Paper Mismatch” or “Paper Size Mismatch” error can occur when the paper, envelopes or other media loaded in the printer tray or feeder is a different size than the paper selected in the printer settings and is a safeguard programed into your printer to prevent ink or toner from being wasted.
Some printers have “heavy paper” settings that can be used for cardstock; others are so sensitive that you can program them for the exact weight of paper you`re using. The paper tray may also need to be moved to a different position. Your printer`s online manual should provide specific guidance.
Before you print, load photo paper or cards into the input tray. Open the input tray door, then pull it toward you to extend the paper tray. Slide the paper width guides to their outermost position. Load the photo paper or card into the paper tray with the short edge forward and the print side down.
If your PC or the LCD screen on your printer is telling you that your ink cartridges are full but no ink is passing through to the paper, then it`s most likely that you are dealing with a clogged printhead. Blurry documents and images that appear faded are also signs that it`s time to remove the excess ink.
View ink cartridge levels from your printer software, or from the printer control panel. Tap the HP Instant Ink icon on the printer control panel to view ink levels. To check page counts and cartridge shipment status, go to HP Instant Ink.
A paper jam is when paper or other printed material gets stuck or lodged in a printer and cannot eject.
If your printer keeps jamming, you should know that the most common cause of a jam is misalignment of the paper. Paper needs to load in smoothly, completely flush with the tray. Overfilling the tray is a great way to ensure you will be spending some personal time getting to know the inside of a printer.
The print spool can also be stopped from the command line using the “Net stop spooler” command. Navigate to C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\PRINTERS and delete the job.
Dust, paper fiber, and other debris might accumulate on the pick rollers and cause paper feed issues. To help prevent paper feed issues, clean the rollers inside the printer and in the duplexer (if equipped). If the other steps in this document fail to resolve the issue, then reset the printer.

HP Laserjet 2200, Tray 2 Pickup Problem, Gears Clicking
ANSWER : Definitely not a solenoid problem. I’ve worked on tens of thousands of printers and never replaced a single solenoid. You probably knocked something loose when you installed the pickup roller. Maybe something to do with the gear on the end of the pickup roller shaft. You’ll need to take the gear assembly off to be able to see it.
