For Windows:
Go to Control panel and then Devices and Printers. Find and right-click on your printer and click on Printing Preferences. Go to Quick Setup tab and then select Grayscale.
To print in single-cartridge mode, remove one of the ink cartridges, and then continue to print as usual. The printer control panel or computer screen might display a message to install the missing cartridge. To clear the message and continue with the print job, click or press OK.

The quick answer is: Yes, you can (if you own a printer model that allows it) — but you shouldn`t keep printing with an empty cartridge for too long. Why? Because running on an empty cartridge for too long can cause your printhead to overheat resulting in irreversible printer damage.
Single function printers are designed to do one thing: print! They`re available as inkjets and lasers and can also come with other features like two-sided printing, USB ports, memory card slots and multipurpose paper trays.
Change the default print settings for all print jobs
Right-click the printer icon ( ) for your printer, and then select Printing preferences. Select your new default print settings (paper size, orientation, etc.), and then click OK.
When color ink is expended and black ink still remains, you can continue printing for a short time using only black ink. However, you should replace the expended ink cartridge(s) as soon as possible. See the following section to continue printing temporarily with black ink.
Go to your computer and click “Print” from the file that you wanted to print. Click on “Properties” and then the “Color” tab next. Select the “Print in grayscale” option by clicking on its checkbox. You can now start printing in black and white.
If your PC or the LCD screen on your printer is telling you that your ink cartridges are full but no ink is passing through to the paper, then it`s most likely that you are dealing with a clogged printhead. Blurry documents and images that appear faded are also signs that it`s time to remove the excess ink.
Go to control panel, devices and printers, right click the icon for the printer and from the drop down menu select printer properties. On the window that opens click advanced and then printer defaults and turn off duplex. Do the same for printer preferences on the general tab.
How Many Pages per Ink Cartridge On Average You Can Print? How many pages can you print with one ink cartridge? According to PCMag, a standard ink cartridge will print an average of 220 pages, (with 11 ml of ink). A high capacity cartridge prints an average of 350 pages, (its tank holds 16 ml of ink).
Print a color composite (Acrobat Pro)
Choose Document And Stamps from the Comments And Forms menu to print all visible content. Click Advanced, and select Output on the left side of the dialog box. Choose a composite option from the Color menu. Specify other color and output settings, and click OK.
Clean the printheads: Sometimes the issue why you are unable to print in color is because our printheads are clogged with ink. Clean the printheads and then print a document to check if color printing works. Some printers also have in-built programs that can clean themselves so remember to check for that.
CMYK Printing Methods
CMYK printing is also called the colour separation or four-colour-process. The colours are individually applied, starting with black, and then the rest of the process colours are applied in the order- cyan, magenta and yellow.
