In the simple terms, original ink or toner cartridges are manufactured by the company who built your printer whereas a compatible cartridge is one that has been manufactured by a third party.
1. Can you use other ink cartridges in an HP printer? It will depend on what type of “other” ink cartridge you intend to use on your HP printer. If it`s a third-party or generic compatible/remanufactured ink cartridge of the same model number, then yes, it will work.
Remanufactured ink cartridges typically offer a significantly lower quality ink. While every remanufactured cartridge is different and some are better than others, the ink is simply never as good as the ink used by the original manufacturers.
What is Remanufactured Toner? Remanufactured toners are used toner cartridges. The empty cartridges are sent back to a remanufacturing plant, where the cartridge housing is then refurbished. Internal components are evaluated and some may be replaced before the cartridge is refilled with new toner.
Are remanufactured and compatible printer cartridges just as reliable as the name brand? Yes, most are just as reliable as the name brand, but do your research before settling on a particular cartridge provider.
Is compatible ink as good as original ink? As long as you buy your compatible cartridges from a reputable source, they should be just as valid as genuine cartridges. The only difference between them is whether or not the company that made the printer made the cartridge.
What does remanufactured ink mean? A remanufactured cartridge is an original brand cartridge that was once used, then professionally cleaned, refilled, and sold again. Such ink is usually similar to or close to the quality of the original cartridge and goes through various tests to ensure sharp text and vibrant colors.
Compatible. Compatible hp ink cartridges are cheap but they have a lower quality. However, if you want to save money on your printing costs it is better for you to buy compatible ones.
Ink streaks, leaks or toner dust are telltale signs that a cartridge may be a counterfeit product. HP sells printing supplies through authorised sales channels. To avoid fakes, you should refrain from accepting any suspicious sales offers.
Compatibles are environmentally friendly. Using compatible cartridges reduces pollution/emissions associated with landfilling, incineration, and the manufacturing of new cartridges. On average, each compatible cartridge sold prevents as much as 3 pounds of waste from going into landfills.
What is a Compatible Toner Cartridge? A compatible toner cartridge a generic cartridge made by a third-party manufacturer from parts compatible with your printer. In some places, compatible toner is also called clone toner as they are essentially an off-brand copy of the OEM cartridges.
Some people are concerned that using a remanufactured toner cartridge is illegal, or that it will void their printer`s warranty. Those are legitimate questions to ask! However, this is NOT the case. Remanufactured toner cartridges are considered aftermarket consumables and will not void your printer`s warranty.
Branded ink is expensive because original equipment printer manufacturers (OEMs) claim that the technology to make ink is expensive; so much is spent on R&D, and it costs a ton of money to ensure topnotch ink quality and reliability.
Yes, you can use a compatible or third-party brand of ink in your printer. Lower priced printer cartridges from third-party companies are available for almost every popular printer model and can save printer users thousands on printing costs every year.

Resetting of chip for hp toner Q6000A
ANSWER : HP Color Laser Jet 1600 – Thanks for all the above information. Even though the 1600 is a different printer, I followed the above: “…go to “System Configuration”; then to “Print Quality”; I then get a choice of “Replace Supplies” and then “Overide Out”…” Selecting “Overide Out” got my 1600 back to printing, although I did have do perform the steps TWICE before it seemed to take affect. Not sure what was going on, but I’m happy that people put the information out there for the rest of us to have.

Expired Toner and Suggestions for Source of Toner
ANSWER : Hi Frank, I had a very similar question two weeks ago, but my “old beloved workhorse” is an HP Laserjet 4L. From the good old days! I too had made bad investments in “new but old truly HP” toner cartridges, hoping to coax more life from my printer. I ended up choosing to try a remanufactured cartridge from www.4inkjets.com. It was a gamble, but the website said they had a 100% satisfaction guarantee. And I can tell you they have lighting fast service. I’ve now printed 50 pages without a flaw. JOY! While the cartridges and technology are different, I suggest you try the same place. And good luck!
