Photosmart printers are designed for relatively light use. A printer like the 7250 all-in-one is designed to print up to 1,250 pages per month. Officejets are designed to handle much more printing, befitting their design for use in a business setting.
At $400, the Photosmart C8180 sits in Hewlett-Packard`s lineup as one of its most expensive All-in-One (AIO) players.
Of course, there`s also direct connectivity available through USB, and all forthcoming printers are compatible with Apple AirPrint so you can print wirelessly from an iPad, iPhone, or iPod Touch. The HP Photosmart 5520 e-All-in-One will be available in June for $129.
Great printer, good features, decent price

This printer has quite a few great features. HP provides an easy setup with software that has a lot of functionality. The touch screen is much like a smart phone and easy to navigate. It is easy to find the functions we want to use.

As print quality goes down over time, this will be a reason to replace the color printer. We find a black and white printer can sometimes last 10 years or more and most color laser printers are replaced every 3 to 5 years.
A good rule of thumb: if your printer is more than seven years old, you may want to start pricing new units. In this case, even a relatively inexpensive component is not worth the investment.
A typical ink cartridge will yield 250 to 300 pages depending on the color density of the prints. The yield of a typical toner cartridge in a laser printer is between 2,500 and 3,000 pages. Some larger laser printers can even have toners that will yield up to 30,000 pages!
The most common location to find your product information is on its label. For most HP products the product label is on its bottom, its side, its top, or its back. On some products, it might be inside a battery compartment or behind an access panel.
Around April 1997 Hewlett Packard announced the Photosmart System. A complete PC photography system consisting of a digital camera ($400), photo scanner ($500) and photo printer ($500). This was the first PC photo imaging system for home users and HP`s first digital camera, although it was made by Konica.

What is a printhead? The answer is simpler than you may imagine. The printhead is a component in a printer that houses ink cartridges. It`s typically located under the cover of your printer, and it can become clogged with ink over time.

HP Photosmart 8750 intermittent serv. stat. stuck
ANSWER : I had this error after the printer sat idle for many months. I thought it was the cartridge drive belt stretching, because it was extremely loose and wouldn’t move the carriage due to slippage. Then I noticed there was a gear belt tensioner to the right side that had some movement. Sure enough, when I shined a flashlight into the ink reservoir, there was a spring that had fallen down inside. Looking at the plastic belt tensioner, it looks as if the spring was held on by a plastic post that had broken off. This is most likely the cause of many of these errors, because the plastic break is very clean and not readily visible, (a design flaw in my opinion). Rather than trying to replace the part, I am going to try tapping a hole in the plastic and inserting a machine screw that can hold the tension spring in place. It also looks like the metal notch for the right hand loop of the spring, would not prevent the spring from slipping off at some point, so using a metal file to enlarge the notch may be necessary. If you’re lucky, your spring may have just popped off and is inside the ink reservoir. This may be one reason why the printer was discontinued so soon. One lousy five dollar part makes the whole printer worthless… I use this this printer primarily because it is easy to clean the heads by removing the carts, instead of having to disassemble the whole damn thing, as in ink tank designs. It makes beautiful 13×19 prints with better color accuracy than my Vivera 6 ink printer.

Ink Problem
ANSWER : Remove the color cartridge and do a “blot” test by pushing the heads on the bottom onto a paper towel. You should see all the colors. If not, then run hot tap water on the heads. Could be a bad ink cartridge if it still doesn’t work.
