HP standard printers are printers available without the benefits of HP+.
Go to 123.hp.com to download and install the software. Open the HP Smart app, and then touch Add a New printer, or touch the Add icon to have the app search for your printer. Follow the prompts in the HP Smart app to connect the printer to your device. During setup, you may choose to sign up for HP+ or Instant Ink.
HP+ is a modern print solution that comes as a free upgrade with select HP InkJet and LaserJet printers. With HP+, your printer is part of a smart printing ecosystem, with the integrated app², security, automatic updates, and ink monitoring all working together to make printing smarter 1.
Can I use HP Instant Ink without a subscription? No. HP Instant Ink is a subscription service.
HP+ is a revolutionary new printing solution that comes free with most HP printers for home and small business. It delivers an extra year of warranty protection, increased sustainability, free Instant Ink for the first 3 months, and low-cost ink and toner at up to 50% off the retail price* for the life of the device.
“HP+ requires an HP account, ongoing internet connection, and use of only Original HP Ink or Toner for the life of the printer.” “HP+ printers requires the use of Original HP Ink or Toner to operate, for the life of the printer, even after expiration of the 6 month of Instant Ink offer.”
Place the printer near the Wi-Fi router. Open the Setup, Network, or Wireless settings menu, and then select Wireless Setup Wizard. Select the name of your network, and then enter the password to complete the connection.
Simply plug the USB cable from your printer into an available USB port on your PC, and turn the printer on. On the taskbar, select the Search icon, type Printers in the search bar, and then select Printers & scanners from the search results to open the Printers & scanners system setting.
In the Devices and Printers window click on Add a printer. Choose “Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings”, then click Next. Select Create a new port and choose Standard TCP/IP Port, then click Next. Under Hostname or IP address: Type in the IP address of the printer you intend to connect to.
On the Connected Printing Services screen, click Manage options, and then select Continue or Accept All. On the HP+ offer screen, click Continue, and then click Activate HP+ or Confirm. Sign into your HP account.
If you don`t activate the HP+ benefits, you will not get the 2nd year of warranty or the 6 free months of Instant Ink, however the printer will still function as normal.
The service is required at setup when you purchase laser printers from HP that come with HP+, but if you buy an inkjet, HP+ supported printer, you`ll have the option not to sign up or use it to set up your printer.
Install the ink cartridges and complete setup

Install the HP ink cartridges that came with your printer. Lower the output tray, and then open the ink cartridge access door. Remove the ink cartridge from its packaging. Hold the cartridge by its sides, and then remove the protective tape.

What repair needs to be done for a "50 needs repair" message on an HP Laserjet IIIP?
ANSWER : I don’t know what you mean by good toner cartridges. They haven’t been built in about 10 years, so if they are new OEMs in the box, they are guaranteed to fail. The 50 error on that printer is mostly a burned out fuser lamp. This site was sold, so as you can see, there are no more kits available.

Hp laserjet 2420dn
ANSWER : I would suspect the fixing film has wear. You can prove the theory by doing a half-stop test. This stops the print before it enters the fixing film assembly. Load paper in the drop down MF tray in the front. Send a print job and when the tail end starts to enter, open the cartridge lid on top to stop it. Then remove the toner cartridge and look at the paper. If you see the marks, it is from the toner cartridge. If you don’t, it would be coming from the fixing film since the paper hasn’t entered it.
