On the Windows taskbar, click the Windows icon ( ), and then click Devices and Printers. Right-click your product, and then select Printing Preferences. From the Printing Preferences menu, select Paper/Quality. From the Paper Source drop-down menu, select Tray 2.
From the Home screen on the printer control panel, touch the Setup icon (or ). Open the System Setup menu, and then open the Paper Setup menu. Select the tray that you want to configure. Select Paper Type, and then select the desired paper type for the tray.
Click the Copy/Print or Print tab. Open the Manage Trays menu. Modify the tray settings.
Open the Printers and Faxes window, right click on the printer, and choose “Properties.” There should be a “Printing Preferences” option there. Anything you set there becomes the default for all future printing.
Disconnect the power cord and USB or network cable. Open Tray 2 and remove it completely from the printer. Place Tray 3 on a stable surface, and then place the printer on Tray 3. Use the alignment pins on top of the tray to position the printer.
Tray 1 is the small slot in the front for manually feeding paper. The paper cassette which holds the paper and slides out is called tray 2.
The tray settings determine how the printer manages the paper trays.
To specify a tray within MS Word the user must: Click File and then Print. In the Print Dialogue click Page Setup. In the Page Setup window click on the Paper tab.
Paper is housed in the printer`s paper tray, and most trays can be found along the bottom of the printer. There is usually a small notch on the face of the tray that pulls out so you can insert the paper.
Generally when the printer tells you to print to tray 1 it means the job being sent to the printer is asking for a paper size and/or type that the printer does not think it has in any tray. Check you paper size and type settings for trays 2 and 3 and then check what each job is asking.
Open Tray 1. Pull out the tray extension to support the paper. Use the adjustment latch to spread the paper guides outward. Load paper in the tray.
Press the “Menu” key, then use the arrows to select “Paper Handling” then “Tray 2 Size”. Since you have A4 loaded, it should show “A4”. If it shows anything other than “A4”, open the tray and adjust the Length and Width guides so that they are set to “A4”, close the tray and check the menu again.

HP Laserjet 2200, Tray 2 Pickup Problem, Gears Clicking
ANSWER : Definitely not a solenoid problem. I’ve worked on tens of thousands of printers and never replaced a single solenoid. You probably knocked something loose when you installed the pickup roller. Maybe something to do with the gear on the end of the pickup roller shaft. You’ll need to take the gear assembly off to be able to see it.

What repair needs to be done for a "50 needs repair" message on an HP Laserjet IIIP?
ANSWER : I don’t know what you mean by good toner cartridges. They haven’t been built in about 10 years, so if they are new OEMs in the box, they are guaranteed to fail. The 50 error on that printer is mostly a burned out fuser lamp. This site was sold, so as you can see, there are no more kits available.
