Faulty power cords and connections are an uncommon but possible cause of a printer not turning on. Before suspecting a cord failure, ensure that there is power to the wall outlet and there are no conditions preventing the printer from turning on. Testing by substitution can confirm if a cord connection is the problem.
Press and release the Power button to start a Power On/Off cycle. Do not hold the button down. Note: If you press and hold the Power button too long, the printer might turn on and then off without restarting.
Press the Power button to turn on the printer. Wait for 60 seconds before continuing.
Printer sleep mode

Check that the printer does not have sleep mode enabled: Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers. Right-click the printer in question, then select Printer Preferences. Look for an option to disable sleep or time-out mode.

A blinking Power light might indicate a `Fatal Error,” that requires a printer reset. Follow these steps to reset the printer. Without turning off the printer, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer. Wait 30 seconds, and then reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
Turn the printer off then back on. If the issue persists, turn the printer off, unplug the power cord and then wait at least three minutes before plugging the power cord back in and turning the printer back on. If the issue persists, ensure the product is running the latest firmware available from HP.com.
You must press the power button to turn the printer back on.
Click Start . Press and hold the Shift key, click Power, and then select Restart while holding the Shift key. Continue holding the Shift key while the computer restarts.
The printer could be dirty. Solution: Arrange to have your printer cleaned. The toner cartridge may be nearly empty. Solution: Replace the toner cartridge.

What repair needs to be done for a "50 needs repair" message on an HP Laserjet IIIP?
ANSWER : I don’t know what you mean by good toner cartridges. They haven’t been built in about 10 years, so if they are new OEMs in the box, they are guaranteed to fail. The 50 error on that printer is mostly a burned out fuser lamp. This site was sold, so as you can see, there are no more kits available.
