How to Identify and Fix Common Problems ?

HP has determined that 99% of all lines and streaks on copies made by feeding the original documents through the ADF are caused by debris on the ADF glass. Debris can include dust, paper or toner dust, residue from sticky note adhesive, correction fluid or tape, ink, fingerprints, and more.
When your printer leaves black lines, the lines indicate that there are excess toner powders on the rollers or transfer belt within the printer. As the paper is moved along by the rollers and transfer belt, any excess powder left on them can result in lines being left on the paper.
This is reflected in the HP LaserJet 4250 printer series, which is built to perform in fast-paced business environments, with a duty cycle of 250,000 pages per month. Automatic two-sided printing3 allows printing on both sides, reducing your printing costs and virtually doubling the printer`s paper capacity.
Vertical lines in prints are an early warning sign of a low ink cartridge, which may show up before the printer`s low ink alerts start. You can fix the problem by replacing the low cartridge. Gently shaking the drained cartridge a bit may help to get another few prints out of it without vertical lines.
Change mode in printer settings

Open the Control Panel and then the Devices and Printers option. Find your printer in the Devices and Printers window and right-click the icon with your mouse. In the menu that appears, select Printing Preferences and find the option for Orientation in the preferences window.

Generally speaking, a visible vertical line down your page after printing is an indication that the image drum in the machine may be damaged. It could also mean that the machine is reaching the end of its life.
Printing on both sides of paper is called duplex printing. Most printers offer the option of automatically printing on both sides of a sheet of paper (automatic duplex printing). Other printers provide instructions so that you can manually reinsert pages to print the second side (manual duplex printing).
HP® is proud to offer both inkjet printers and laser printers that are capable of double-sided printing. Inkjet printers have some very distinguishable differences from laser printers.

Vertical Streaks or Lines

Vertical white lines also can signal an obstruction that prevents the laser from imaging pages correctly. Resolving that problem can require cleaning elements of the laser assembly or replacing it altogether.

Your laser printer keeps printing vertical black lines on its output pages. What is the most likely cause of the problem? The most likely cause is a groove or a scratch in the EP drum. Toner is collecting in that groove or scratch and then being deposited on to the page.
Change the orientation for specific pages

Select all the text on the pages you want to change. On the Format menu, select Document. Select Page Setup at the bottom of the dialog box. Next to Orientation, choose the orientation you want, and then select OK.

Click Print Quality Tools, and then select Align or Align Printheads. If prompted by the software or printer control panel to scan the Alignment Page, follow the instructions on the page to complete the alignment.
A vertical line is always a line that runs from top to bottom, or, from bottom to top. Standing lines are also a type of vertical line that runs vertically. We usually draw vertical lines between the bases of a trapezoid or a parallelogram….
If the lines only appear in Windows, the problem is a Windows setting — most likely the refresh rate. Right-click on the Desktop once Windows loads and choose “Screen Resolution.” Click “Advanced Settings,” “Monitor,” and then lower the refresh rate to see if the lines disappear.
A vertical line is a line extending up and down. On a table (like the one shown to the right), the legs of the table are vertical lines. The y-axis is an example of a vertical line.
What causes vertical lines on computer monitor? Lines on computer screen can be triggered by various issues including outdated graphics card driver, defective ribbon cables, incorrect video cable connections, damage of the screen, etc.
On the Columns menu, select More Columns…, which opens the Columns dialog. Clear the check box for “Line between.” If these are table columns, the line will be a border, which can be removed using the Borders button on the Design tab of the Table Tools.

Hp laserjet 2420dn
ANSWER : I would suspect the fixing film has wear. You can prove the theory by doing a half-stop test. This stops the print before it enters the fixing film assembly. Load paper in the drop down MF tray in the front. Send a print job and when the tail end starts to enter, open the cartridge lid on top to stop it. Then remove the toner cartridge and look at the paper. If you see the marks, it is from the toner cartridge. If you don’t, it would be coming from the fixing film since the paper hasn’t entered it.
