The following are the top reasons why paper jams occur:
unsupported paper/media is used. incorrect paper settings in the tray and/or the print driver. paper loaded incorrectly and/or paper edge guides not adjusted properly in the tray. humidity and/or paper condition and storage.
The message `Fuser Error` or `Self-Diagnostic` means either the fuser has reached the maximum temperature allowed or there has been an error in detection of the correct temperature during specific times of the printing process.
Store paper in a dry and cool place.
Always make sure to store the papers away from the sun, heat, and humidity. These conditions can affect the quality of your paper, causing paper jams.
The jam is caused by excess toner that is on the page sticking to the fuser roller and not releasing as it should. The way to avoid this is to reduce the surface area on the fuser roller and we do this by turning the paper around to A4-R in your trays.
The message “Fuser Kit Low” or “Fuser Kit Very Low” on your HP Color LaserJet M553 series printer is a warning that you have reached the recommended number of prints for your fuser assembly. (The fuser assembly is the consumable part in your printer which heats up and bonds toner to the paper.
This error might display if the fuser temperature becomes too hot. Follow these steps to turn off the printer and allow the fuser to cool before printing again. Press the Power button to turn off the printer. Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
The coating wears off and causes the toner to not fuse properly. There are replacement rollers and sleeves on the market that you can replace and turn a non-functional fuser into a good working one. Rebuilding fuser assemblies is not a new thing.
Low-quality paper leaves an accumulation of tiny paper bits often referred to as “paper dust” inside the machine. This “dust” is one of the top causes of paper jams. More dust means more jams. Besides jams, the dust also contributes to poor-quality prints and causes machine parts to wear at a faster rate.
A fuser unit is a pair of heated rollers within the printer that fuses the toner onto the paper being printed on. Toner particles are pulled to the paper to create the desired text and images as the paper passes the imaging drum.
Did you know most copier paper jams are caused by the paper itself? Misaligned paper. When a stack of paper isn`t aligned properly in the machine, it often causes a paper jam issue. When adding a ream of paper, always fan the paper, load carefully and avoid overstuffing the tray.
Worn or dirty rollers can decrease friction and increase jams. Check the rollers for wear and gently clean them with a mild soap solution. If the paper is fed into the equipment at an angle or skewed in some way, you can end up with crooked folds or paper jams.

What repair needs to be done for a "50 needs repair" message on an HP Laserjet IIIP?
I don’t know what you mean by good toner cartridges. They haven’t been built in about 10 years, so if they are new OEMs in the box, they are guaranteed to fail. The 50 error on that printer is mostly a burned out fuser lamp. This site was sold, so as you can see, there are no more kits available.
HP Laserjet 6MP wont feed paper
I had a similar paper pickup problem on laserjet 6mp. The printer would go through start-up sequence fine but when it received a print job you could here the main gears/rollers turning but no clicking from paper pickup solenoid, then eventually error lights would come one . I incorrectly assumed it was an error with the paper pickup mechanism and wasted a whole day taking the printer apart and replacing the paper pick mechanism. Long story short, if I had bothered to figure out the secondary error light codes from the start, I would have realized it was just a bad fuser and would not have wasted so much time.
HP Laserjet 4200 50.2 Fuser error
if you are using a good fuser the next part to try would be low voltage power supply
LaserJet 4 won't Power Up
I haven’t seen that particular behavior on that model. It either works or it doesn’t. My first choice would be the power supply.
HP Laserjet 2200, Tray 2 Pickup Problem, Gears Clicking
Definitely not a solenoid problem. I’ve worked on tens of thousands of printers and never replaced a single solenoid. You probably knocked something loose when you installed the pickup roller. Maybe something to do with the gear on the end of the pickup roller shaft. You’ll need to take the gear assembly off to be able to see it.

Seriously, dmzcompute, you are awesome! And this is just what the internet does so well: a specific fix for an esoteric problem, thus keeping a 15 year old machine alive another day. Thank you!
