It is most likely that your image is yellow where you were expecting it to be red and you may also notice that blue parts of the image appear turquoise instead. Both of these effects are caused by a lack of magenta ink/toner on your prints. Magenta is added to both cyan and yellow to create these common colours.
– Make sure that none of the ink cartridges are empty. If the cyan or yellow run out, you`ll get a definite red/pink hue to the printouts. – Verify that the paper type setting in whatever application you`re using, matches the paper type you`re using.
You can continue to print with one or more empty cartridges, but HP recommends replacing them as soon as possible to avoid printhead damage.

Press your printer`s Setup button. Go to System Setup. Choose Print Quality and then Calibrate Color. Choose Calibrate Now and press OK.
The ink levels may be low and you may need to refill the ink. Visually check the ink levels. Also make sure you filled the tanks with the correct colors of ink. After you print, the colors in your printout need time to set as the ink dries.
To make red, magenta and yellow inks are used, since magenta absorbs green light and yellow absorbs blue light, resulting in only red light being reflected back to our eyes. If you`ve ever used different colors of paint on a palette, you probably understand the basic mechanism of color printing.
Can you print with one or two empty ink cartridges? The quick answer is: Yes, you can (if you own a printer model that allows it) — but you shouldn`t keep printing with an empty cartridge for too long.
When color ink is expended and black ink still remains, you can continue printing for a short time using only black ink. However, you should replace the expended ink cartridge(s) as soon as possible. See the following section to continue printing temporarily with black ink.
To print in single-cartridge mode, remove one of the ink cartridges, and then continue to print as usual. The printer control panel or computer screen might display a message to install the missing cartridge. To clear the message and continue with the print job, click or press OK.
The ink cartridges may be old or low on ink, and you may need to replace them. Your printed colors can never exactly match your on-screen colors. However, you can use a color management system to get as close as possible. Try using the color management options in your printer software.
Clean the printheads: Sometimes the issue why you are unable to print in color is because our printheads are clogged with ink. Clean the printheads and then print a document to check if color printing works. Some printers also have in-built programs that can clean themselves so remember to check for that.
If the cartridge is in the wrong position the tube will fill with the wrong color. To resolve this issue you will need to clean the print head. NOTE: It may require 10 to 15 cleanings to clean the ink tubes and print head. During the cleaning process, the ink in the cartridge(s) will be consumed.
Photos and other artwork can become discolored overtime due to sun exposure, but also because of acid in the printing, framing and storage materials. This discoloration often takes on a yellow or brown look synonymous with “old” photos.
Run a nozzle check to see if any of the print head nozzles are clogged. Then clean the print head, if necessary. The ink cartridges may be old or low on ink, and you may need to replace them. Your printed colors can never exactly match your on-screen colors.
