If the contacts between the cartridge and the printer are dirty or clogged, there is a high chance that this can be the main cause for the ink to leak on the paper. To properly clean the contacts, open the printing machine and remove the ink cartridges and place them on a clean piece of paper.
If ink leaks into a printer`s ink bay – also known as the cradle or carriage – it can cause smears or blotches of ink on your documents. In addition to creating a mess, it can also make you business appear sloppy or unprofessional.
The printer cartridge could be leaking because you overfilled it with ink during refill. Draw out 1 or 2 ml of ink from the cartridge using the syringe. Note that when refilling cartridges, 5 ml of ink for colors and 10 ml of ink for black is generally enough. Ink cartridges with leaks tend to print blank pages.
Clean the contacts
Even a properly aligned cartridge can leak if the contacts between it and the machine are dirty or clogged. Similar to before, open up the machine, remove the offending cartridge and wipe it down with an alcohol-based wipe – not water as this can cause damage. Then, do the same for the printer head.
If you write with the pen at too much of an angle, the part holding the ball wears on the paper surface, and as with the case where the pen tip got scratched, ink may leak out. The ball pen transfers the ink of the pen to paper by rotating the ball on paper.
Your faucet may contain a ceramic, brass, or rubber seat that is meant to form a seal at the bottom of the cartridge opening. The seat can become damaged with use so that it no longer fits correctly into the hole in the cartridge, which allows water to leak. The O-ring may also become cracked and cause a leak.
Standard pigments used in commercial inks can be sensitive to many types of over print and post processing coatings. This sensitivity can result in an undesireable color shift of the printed ink, often referred to as a “bleed” or “burn-out”.

Yes, using refilled ink cartridges can actually cause permanent damage to your printer.
First things first: inkjet printers use inks that are water based, which means the print is NOT WATERPROOF and will run or smudge if a label gets wet.
There are numerous possible causes for a printer that`s randomly producing blanks. The most common ones are empty ink cartridges, improper cartridge installation, and congested nozzles. Driver and software issues can sometimes cause this problem as well. Running out of ink?

ANSWER : I have just experienced a similar problem after cleaning out the ink build up without removing the outer case. The two lights are flashing and the ink cartridges end up on the far left after jumping back and fore a few times.

ANSWER : hi everyone. i have an hp ink advantage 5525 all-in-one. changed all cartridges as they were empty and when i tried to print i got blank pages. i gave a print order a couple times to find out what was going on and found out that yellow and magenta inks worked but not cyan and black. removed cartridges, clean and all many times and nothing happened. then i tried this youtu.be/f57jOGj-G5s and the print quality of magenta and yellow improved significantly but still no black or cyan at all. i can’t do the running water thing because the print head is not detachable. any suggestions?

ANSWER : I worked fixing printers for 5 years for Verizon and some of the older printers were notorious for the waste receptacle filling and overflowing with ink. My solution was good old warm water. Remove the waste container and scoop out as much as you can with a small screwdriver, wiping the discard on a paper towel, then just run warm water from the faucet into the container till all the residue is removed. This is just water soluble ink folks, if you want to test it, scoop out a glob and dissolve it in warm water, its easy as pie. I never once bought a new ink discard reservoir. I just cleaned out my mobile 460 printer reservoir by the same method. There are no electrical connections its just all plastic.
