The encoder strip is a thin, clear plastic strip located on the printer`s platen. It helps the printer determine where the printhead is located and how much ink to eject. Over time, the encoder strip can become dirty and covered in ink. This can cause printing problems and affect the quality of your prints.
The best way to locate the encoder strip is to look on the left side of your machine in the opening between the platen and the support arm. There you will see two plastic strips running the width of the machine. One gray and the other clear. The gray strip is the encoder strip.
The Linear Encoder Strip is a clear film that is etched with a many vertical lines that are read by an encoder sensor located on the Print Head Carriage (see picture below). The sensor and encoder strip work together to report the position of the Print Head Carriage back to the processor on the Control Board.
Optical encoders are important electro-mechanical components used in everything from printers to speedometers.
Encoders are used to control the operation of ink heads of inkjet printers. The encoder sends pulse signals to the industrial inkjet printer as the attached pulley rotates. The inkjet printer uses the interval between the pulse signals to recognize the speed of the object.
The encoder film is a clear, thin film 1/4″ high that sits horizontally across the inside of the printer. The strip contains thin black vertical lines that help it determine the printer`s carriage position.
US Digital offers a wide variety of standard linear encoder strips. These products are available in many different resolutions and lengths. The material used is Mylar™ polyester film. This material is very rugged, with a wide temperature range of -40C to 100C.
Look in the middle of the diagnostic page. The bars with “E” (for “empty”) and “F” (for “full”) at each end show the ink levels in the cartridges.
Print a Print Quality Diagnostic page
A Print Quality Diagnostic page helps identify the source of print quality issues. Open the HP Smart app and select your printer. Click Printer Reports, and then click Print Quality Report. A Print Quality Diagnostic page prints.
The Encoder Strip is the semi-clear strip located just above the carriage slider rod. Its purpose is to help the print carriage accurately keep track of its position as it moves along the carriage rod.
An encoder converts your video into a digital format to stream on YouTube. Some encoders are software apps on your computer, while others are standalone hardware.
For optical encoders, you should also clean the lens and the disk with a lint-free cloth and a mild cleaner. For resolvers, you should also clean the stator and the rotor with a dry cloth or a vacuum cleaner.
Press and hold the “Power” button and reconnect the power cord. When the printer comes on, release the button. Wait five seconds and push the “Power” button again. This resets the printer`s internal memory and overrides the “Ink Absorber Full” error code.

ANSWER : hi everyone. i have an hp ink advantage 5525 all-in-one. changed all cartridges as they were empty and when i tried to print i got blank pages. i gave a print order a couple times to find out what was going on and found out that yellow and magenta inks worked but not cyan and black. removed cartridges, clean and all many times and nothing happened. then i tried this youtu.be/f57jOGj-G5s and the print quality of magenta and yellow improved significantly but still no black or cyan at all. i can’t do the running water thing because the print head is not detachable. any suggestions?

HP deskjet 460 Waste ink tank full
ANSWER : I worked fixing printers for 5 years for Verizon and some of the older printers were notorious for the waste receptacle filling and overflowing with ink. My solution was good old warm water. Remove the waste container and scoop out as much as you can with a small screwdriver, wiping the discard on a paper towel, then just run warm water from the faucet into the container till all the residue is removed. This is just water soluble ink folks, if you want to test it, scoop out a glob and dissolve it in warm water, its easy as pie. I never once bought a new ink discard reservoir. I just cleaned out my mobile 460 printer reservoir by the same method. There are no electrical connections its just all plastic.
