There are chips inside the original cartridges to record how many pages were printed and they cannot be reset. As a result the printer reads the chips and tells you that the cartridges are empty, even though they are not. This is why you are getting the “ink low” message even though the ink tank is at full capacity.
This error message is usually the result of a cartridge that is not firmly seated in its designated slot. To troubleshoot the problem, begin by completely removing the cartridge from its port. Reinstall the cartridge by positioning it so that it snaps into place and is securely fastened in its slot.
A cartridge might be running out of ink even if the graphic shows that there is ink remaining in the cartridge. Lines or streaks always appear in printouts when the cartridges begin to run out of ink. Replace print cartridges that are out of ink or low on ink.
First, check your printer settings on the file or picture your trying to print. If your page is setup to print in “grayscale” it will only print in black and white. Change the setting to “default” so it will print in color. If your settings look good from the start, the cartridge may just need to be primed.
Reasons why your HP printer has ink but won`t print
This may seem obvious, but it sometimes happens: first make sure your paper tray has paper in it. Misalignment, clogged printheads, faulty data communication or insufficient ink levels can also be sources of the problem.
Trick the printer.
Low ink doesn`t mean no ink. Remove the cartridge, wipe it with a lint-free cloth and reinsert it. This process can fool your printer into “thinking” you`ve put in a new cartridge and may help it eke out a few more pages.
Clean the Cartridge Contacts: one of the most common reasons you might get a cartridge problem error when your cartridges are new and full is the contacts on the cartridge might be dirty or otherwise obscured from making good contact with the electronics in the printer head carriage.
You can resolve this problem by resetting your HP printer`s internal memory: Remove the new ink cartridge and reload the old ink cartridge back into the printer. Wait for about 10 minutes before you proceed to the next step. Remove the old ink cartridge and install the new ink cartridge again.
Kindly go to Start > Settings > Update and Security > Troubleshoot > Printer > select Run Troubleshooter. You may also check the print settings to ensure that the option for black and white/grayscale is not selected.
