Faint, streaky or spotty prints are all common signs of a clog but a simple cleaning can usually get your HP ink cartridges working again. Printheads clog due to infrequent cartridge use. If you regularly go a few weeks without printing, your cartridges will eventually dry out and need to be replaced.
Prints produced with inks that contain pigments, such as HP Latex Inks, tend to last longer than prints produced with inks that contain dyes, but nonetheless they will start to fade over time depending on the intensity of UV light exposure. exposure to direct sunlight and water.
If you feel that the ink cartridges run out very quickly every time you replace the ink, it`s possible you are printing high density documents frequently. The ink consumption varies very much on print density.
The warranty period for the printheads is 1000 cc of ink through the printhead (previously 700 cc), or the expiration date printed on the printhead, whichever comes first. However, printheads may last much longer than 1000 cc of ink. On average, printheads should last through 2-3 ink cartridges.
To protect prints from damage by UV light, you can also introduce a UV shield either by using UV-resistant glazing, or for existing frames, using a UV-resistance aerosol to spray a coating over the existing glazing. Heat is an environmental factor that contributes to colour fading and print deterioration.
Over time, cells from your immune system – called macrophages – gradually absorb the tattoo ink and disperse it, which can lead to some tattoo fading. On top of this, factors such as sunlight, friction and improper care of your tattoos can all accelerate the process of aging your skin and/or fading your tattoos.
UV ink offers profound benefits. It is quick to dry, highly durable, and sticks to most materials. It is also very economical due to the fact that all of the ink in the cartridge is used, making for lower printing costs and reduced waste. Printing is clean and clear, without smudging, and does not fade with time.
What`s the average lifespan of a printer? The average lifespan of a printer is around 3-5 years. With proper upkeep and maintenance, some printers can last longer, but eventually your machine will need an upgrade.
Check the LCD print notification screen on your printer. Often, you can press the center button, or “OK” to bypass the low print warning and continue printing.
It depends on the intensity of use, your print quality requirements, and variables like printer settings and the use of ink ribbons. According to the manufacturer specifications, a printhead might print up to 10 million labels. But in reality this could be more. Or less, depending on your actions and settings.
For healthier print heads and more efficient ink consumption, however, it`s better to leave your printer on. Constantly switching your printer off and on will decrease your printer`s lifespan, so try to keep the off/on to a minimum.
A print head scratch occurs when an accumulation of dust or debris gets stuck in your machine. And if this happens, the damage cannot be fixed. In most cases, you would need to purchase a new printhead. That`s why it`s important to keep the dust out, away from your machine.
Air exposure causes your prints to fade by a process called oxidation and, short of sorting your photos in a perfect vacuum, you can`t stop it. Assuming you don`t have access to a perfect vacuum, your photographs resistance to air will depend on the type of ink it uses.
So, here are some suggestions on when to use uv control glazing to prevent artwork fading. What your framer should have said is that depending on where a work on paper is hung, UV protective glass and Plexiglass can help protect it from fading.
White ink has a thicker consistency.

The thicker consistency makes it harder for artists to achieve clean lines that stay crisp after healing. It can also cause a raised appearance, causing the scarred look. White ink tattoos fade much quicker than other tattoos but also tend to blur faster because of this reason.

Pastel colors and white are the lightest tattoo colors; thus, they fade the quickest among all colors. They generally last for about five to eight years before fading.
Unlike pencil or erasable ink, permanent ink soaks into the paper it is used on. The pigments and dyes in ink are usually dissolved in water and glycol. When these substances evaporate, the pigments and dyes soak into the paper, leaving a mark that will last a long time, if not forever.
Black and grey tattoos tend to last a bit longer than color. They will look more vibrant for a longer amount of time. This is especially true if the color tattoo is light or watercolor. White ink will fade the fastest.
HP fills their ink cartridges with either pigment-based ink or dye-based ink. Pigment-based ink is commonly used in their black ink cartridges because it is better at printing text. Dye-based ink is often used in their color cartridges because it is better at creating the vibrant colors required for photo printing.
As print quality goes down over time, this will be a reason to replace the color printer. We find a black and white printer can sometimes last 10 years or more and most color laser printers are replaced every 3 to 5 years.
To keep your printer lasting longer, we recommend leaving your printer on. If it is off for a long period of time or if you turn it on and off again regularly, the printhead inside the printer will dry out faster. When you leave it on, you may hear the printer start up every once in a while and begin to calibrate.
A typical toner cartridge will produce anywhere between 2,500 and 4,000 pages, based on a coverage of 5% (roughly third of a page of double-spaced text). Dense pages filled with small font text or graphics will dramatically reduce this output and you may only get up to 1,000 pages per cartridge.
Ink cartridges that have been sitting idle in your machine for more than a couple weeks will eventually dry out. You might be able to bring them back to life by running a cleaning on your machine, but if the pattern continues, you will eventually be placing an order for a set of replacement cartridges.
Cartridge breakdown – You can only refill your cartridge up to five times. There could be different types of refilled cartridges available in the market, ranging from the ones suitably designed for your printer model to those that claim to be “compatible” with any printer.
