How to Identify and Fix Common Problems ?

Why is my printer printing yellow not red? It is most likely that your image is yellow where you were expecting it to be red and you may also notice that blue parts of the image appear turquoise instead. Both of these effects are caused by a lack of magenta ink/toner on your prints.
1. Check Remaining Ink / Toner Levels & Replace Cartridge if Necessary. Before you do anything complicated, make sure that your printer is not running out of ink or toner. You can visually inspect the remaining cartridge levels on your printer.
Prints that appear more green are commonly caused by an absence of magenta ink/toner being put to paper by your printer. In addition to your prints looking “greener” you may also notice yellow and blue areas appear almost neon due to the the magenta not being able to give them more realistic tones.
If your printouts have incorrect colors, try these solutions: Make sure the Black/Grayscale or Grayscale setting is not selected in your printer software. Run a nozzle check to see if any of the print head nozzles are clogged. Then clean the print head, if necessary.
Clean the printheads: Sometimes the issue why you are unable to print in color is because our printheads are clogged with ink. Clean the printheads and then print a document to check if color printing works. Some printers also have in-built programs that can clean themselves so remember to check for that.
First, check your printer settings on the file or picture your trying to print. If your page is setup to print in “grayscale” it will only print in black and white. Change the setting to “default” so it will print in color. If your settings look good from the start, the cartridge may just need to be primed.
If your PC or the LCD screen on your printer is telling you that your ink cartridges are full but no ink is passing through to the paper, then it`s most likely that you are dealing with a clogged printhead. Blurry documents and images that appear faded are also signs that it`s time to remove the excess ink.
If the problem is isolated to one color, set the printer to Disable Cartridge Check and swap cartridges. If the problem disappears, the old cartridge was obviously bad. If the problem persists, something associated with the cartridge is to blame: its high voltage contact, high voltage circuit, or laser scanner.
The light bar glows amber if there is a printing error. Look at the other lights on the printer to find and resolve the error you are experiencing. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
If the test page that is printed from the panel comes out with a yellow background then you almost certainly have a defective yellow toner cartridge. It`s also possible you have a high voltage problem in the printer but the defective cartridge is more likely.
Yellow can stand for cowardice and deceit as well as freshness, happiness, positivism, clarity, energy, optimism, enlightenment, remembrance, intellect, honour, loyalty, and joy. Yellow that is drab or dull might be a warning sign for disease, envy, and caution.
Inkjet printers work via subtractive color mixing. As different colors of ink are combined, each ink absorbs (subtracts) its characteristic colors and amounts of light. The light that is then reflected back to our eyes is what we see as different colors.
If the test page that is printed from the panel comes out with a yellow background then you almost certainly have a defective yellow toner cartridge. It`s also possible you have a high voltage problem in the printer but the defective cartridge is more likely.
Ever wonder why your prints sometimes appear faded or streaky? It`s usually because the printhead inside your printer is clogged or dried out. Like with most printers, Canon printheads can clog due to ink or dust drying up and collecting in the nozzle.

My 2550n Color LaserJet does not want to print in color
ANSWER : That model had issues with the carousel solenoid sticking. That might explain why it works after you let it sit for 10 minutes. The solenoid gets hotter with use which causes the deteriorated foam on it to become sticky and hold down the release plate instead of letting it go. This allows the carousel to spin when it is supposed to stop for each color. The solenoid is located on the right side of the printer. If you open the lid, it is just behind the opening at the top right. You need to remove the top of the printer and scrape off the goo on top of the solenoid body. I put a piece of thin sticky backed felt to replace it. Other people use electrical tape.
