NOTE: If the paper guide is too tight against the rear edge of the paper stack, the machine may make a loud clicking noise since the gears that drive the tray up may be binding. Be sure to leave a very small gap at the rear edge of the paper stack before locking the tab. 3.
A clicking sound may occur if the stirring spring assembly inside the Toner Cartridge catches on a rib within the cartridge, preventing the stirring spring and its gear from turning. The resulting click is caused by the drum`s toner drive gear slipping against the stirring spring gear on the Toner Cartridge.
A click is a unit of measurement the imaging industry uses to count an image produced by an MFP or other printing device.
If the clicking noise persists, you may need to replace the hard drive. If this doesn`t work, you should check your power supply and replace it. Then, you should run a disc scan to determine whether the hard drive is damaged. If the discs are not spinning, the noise may be caused by a problem with your hard drive.
Dust and debris can accumulate in and around the air vents over time, obstructing the airflow and causing the fans to work harder than normal to remove the heat. Learn how to clean the air vents in HP Notebooks. Learn how to clean the air vents in HP Notebooks.
The noise can be caused by any one of the following: A piece of paper is stuck on one of the rollers inside the printer. A roller in the toner cartridge is squeaking. A roller on a paper feed option is squeaking.
You`ll know the drum is dirty if you notice that the print quality has become blurry and features blank spots or oddly-colored spots despite having full toner cartridges. Horizontal lines across the printout when the paper passes over a dirty area are another sign that it`s time for some maintenance.
If your PC or the LCD screen on your printer is telling you that your ink cartridges are full but no ink is passing through to the paper, then it`s most likely that you are dealing with a clogged printhead. Blurry documents and images that appear faded are also signs that it`s time to remove the excess ink.
Enable auto print

In Chrome this is called “silent printing” or “kiosk printing”. After creating the desktop shortcut, right click the shortcut and click “Properties”. Click Apply. Now, when you use this shortcut to Chrome, goods out notes will be sent directly to the default printer.

A clicking (grinding) sound coming from the scanner is caused by the scanner head drive belt slipping, most likely because it cannot find it`s index position (or home position). Failure to find it`s index position (IP) causes the scanner head to eventually hit something solid causing the belt to slip (grind, grind).
One of the most common causes of extruder clicking is related to temperature settings. If the print temperature is too low, unmelted filament will start to clog the nozzle and prevent consistent filament feeding. Increase the print temperature gradually to see if it helps.
Most of our power supply units (PSUs) have an inrush current bypass relay that makes a *click* noise when the PC turns on and off. This is considered normal and not a defect. If your PSU is making loud repetitive clicking sounds after you turn your PC on, contact Customer Support.

HP Laserjet 2200, Tray 2 Pickup Problem, Gears Clicking
ANSWER : Definitely not a solenoid problem. I’ve worked on tens of thousands of printers and never replaced a single solenoid. You probably knocked something loose when you installed the pickup roller. Maybe something to do with the gear on the end of the pickup roller shaft. You’ll need to take the gear assembly off to be able to see it.
