How to Identify and Fix Common Problems ?

Paper pushed too far into the input tray when it is loaded, might feed into the printer incorrectly, causing the paper to tear. Paper stacks loaded into the input tray with too many or too few sheets of paper, might feed into the printer incorrectly, causing the paper to tear.
Creases and folds in the paper are normally due to one of the following conditions: The paper is not correctly loaded in the paper tray. You are printing on a special type of paper or other media. The paper has absorbed too much moisture from the surrounding air.
On the device control panel, press Menu/Enter. Use the < or the > button to select Service, and then press Menu/Enter. Use the < or the > button to select Less paper curl, and then press Menu/Enter.
Lines or streaks always appear in printouts when the cartridges begin to run out of ink. Replace print cartridges that are out of ink or low on ink.
Wet your paper with a moist sponge or a piece of cloth. As an alternative, dip the paper in water and place it on your table. The water makes the paper stick to your working surface.
Paper curl is caused by an excess amount of moisture in the paper. The first step to ensure less paper curl is to store your paper in a cool, dry area. By doing so, you will reduce the amount of moisture and humidity the paper is exposed to. The next step is to always fan the paper before placing in the machine.
Curl occurs when in-plane layers within a sheet expand or contract at different rates. Different expansion/contraction rates are caused by differences in fiber orientation, difference in composition (fines, fillers, coatings), draws, drying conditions and differences in sheet moistures.
For cleaning, HP recommends using HP Equipment Cleaning Wipes, but you can use an HP-approved lint-free wipe and deionized or distilled water. Note: If dark spots appear on back side of prints, clean drum screen. Note: If minilab prints more than 2000 prints each day, clean drum screen up to twice daily.
As most paper is made from trees, a typical piece of paper is composed mostly of cellulose wood fibers. These fibers are reinforced and fused by strong hydrogen bonds. When paper gets wet, however, those bonds are damaged and the fibers separate more easily. In turn, the paper becomes weak and tears.
If you don`t have the time or iron to flatten it, as shown above, a simple way to get most/some of the wrinkles and creases out is to repeatedly roll the paper over the side of a desk or table. It might not expunge all mistakes but will do the job for a few wrinkles.
It is this permanent line of tiny fractures that forms the crease. Because it is indelible, the paper is said to “remember” the crease”. Even ironing with a hot ironing will not get rid of the crease. It is much the same with metal foil, although in this case there are no fibres to fracture.
If you crumple something such as paper or cloth, or if it crumples, it is squashed and becomes full of untidy creases and folds.
Check your paper stock. If the paper is not designed for laser printers, steam is a common result since the water content of the stock is too high. To fuse the toner to the paper requires that the fuser reach a temperature of approximately 350 degrees which will result in instant steam on high water content paper.
Streaks and unwanted lines could mean that the printer heads are out of alignment. There`s an alignment tool in the printer`s control panel. If that`s not the issue then the printer is dirty. Printer ink stripes may appear along the edges of the paper, which means there`s ink on the rollers and other parts.
Hold a steam iron about 6 inches from the back of the creased area and move it back and forth until you start to see steam. Then, gently press down on the crease with your hand to help smooth it out. Just be careful not to get the iron too close, as too much heat can damage the canvas.
Crumpled paper: This piece is crumbled, so it has developed folds on it. Also, the paper area in contact with air is less, so the burning will take place slowly. However, there will be more soot while burning, and some ash will be produced. The paper will not burn completely.
Moisture in the form of steam is considered a most effective medium for increasing web moisture. A number of different systems have been developed to introduce steam into a web. During the late 1950`s, rather basic humidity boxes were added onto printing presses after the dryers.
In the depths of winter, RH levels as low as 15-20% are not uncommon. In these conditions, moisture is drawn from the exposed surfaces of stacks of paper and they shrink, but the centre of the paper still has its original moisture content. This causes “tight edges” and the paper begins to curl.
To resolve most print quality issues, use genuine HP cartridges, and in some cases, you might need to allow the printer to complete the automatic servicing routine. Check the paper and print settings to make sure that they are correct for the print job, and clean the cartridges and printhead.
Remove the roller cover inside the printer. Pull up on the tabs, then slide the rollers to the left to remove them. Insert the replacement rollers and slide them to the right until they click into place. Replace the roller cover and press down on it until it clicks into place.
There are many factors that determine the actual drum life, such as the temperature, humidity, type of paper, type of toner used, number of pages per print job and so on. Under ideal conditions, the average drum life is estimated at approximately 12,000 pages.
Over time, the cycle of repeated charging and discharging, combined with the electrical charges that printers use, can break down the chemicals in an imaging drum. As the chemicals break down, the drum`s power to attract toner becomes weaker, while the edges between charged and uncharged areas become more blurred.
Why is it important to clean a laser printer? Printing is vital to all businesses so ensuring your laser printer is thoroughly cleaned is crucial as it allows your machine to continue working efficiently. Cleaning a laser printer is easy with the correct equipment, however they are prone to dust and debris.

Paper Jam error but no paper jam
ANSWER : Obviously you didn’t get all the paper cleared out. There is a small scrap in the paper path causing the jam when the paper hits it. You can try clearing it out by inserting something stiff like a piece of file folder from the back of the printer into the paper path and pushing the offending piece out that way.
