Make sure your Wi-Fi network and printer setup meet connection requirements. Restart the printer and the computer or mobile device to clear possible error conditions. Make sure the printer is not connected to a computer with a USB cable.
Restart devices

If your printer connects to a Wi-Fi network, disconnect your computer or mobile device from the network name (SSID), and then reconnect it to the same network name your printer is connected to. If the printer is available and has a ready status, the issue is resolved.

Use the printer control panel to restore Wi-Fi setup mode, and then set up the printer again. Go to Restore Wi-Fi setup mode on your HP printer for more information. Enable Bluetooth for an HP Smart app setup: Enable Bluetooth on your computer or mobile device so that HP Smart can detect the printer during the setup.
In Windows, search for and open Add a printer or scanner . Click Add a printer or scanner, and then wait for Windows to locate available printers. If your printer is found, click it, and then click Add device to complete the driver installation.
Hold the ink cartridge by its sides with the contacts toward the printer, insert the ink cartridge into its slot, and then gently push the ink cartridge until it snaps into place. note: Install the color ink cartridge on the left and the black ink cartridge on the right. Repeat these steps for the other ink cartridge.
Although the printer can be used in a both wired and wireless network, only one of the connection methods can be used at a time. When the wireless setting is enabled, the wired (Ethernet) setting is disabled. When the wired (Ethernet) setting is enabled, the wireless setting is disabled.
Sometimes power cycling your printer can resolve the issue. Turn off your printer and unplug it, wait 30 seconds, plug your printer back in, and then turn the printer back on.
Why isn`t my printer connecting to my computer? The causes are various. It`s likely that your USB cable is damaged or your printer`s not detected by your computer. Maybe there`s something wrong with your printer driver.
Visit the Support section of the manufacturer`s website and search for the relevant model. Download the relevant drivers for your printer and computer`s operating system. Windows users must download Windows drivers and Mac users must download Mac drivers.
Advanced Wireless printers can connect to a laptop or device through Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or USB port. For example, if you are using a laptop and want to print, then all you have to do is connect it to the wireless printer`s Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or USB port without needing an internet connection.
