A piece of paper stuck in the paper tray or inside the printer can create a paper jam. Paper jams can occur for a variety of reasons, such as overloading the paper tray, loading different thicknesses of paper in the tray, or using paper that isn`t appropriate for your particular printer.
Lift the document feeder input tray to access to the document feeder output tray, and then remove any jammed paper from the output area. To avoid tearing any whole sheets of paper, pull the paper with both hands. Open the scanner lid. If there is paper jammed behind the white plastic backing, gently pull it out.
If your printer keeps jamming, you should know that the most common cause of a jam is misalignment of the paper. Paper needs to load in smoothly, completely flush with the tray. Overfilling the tray is a great way to ensure you will be spending some personal time getting to know the inside of a printer.

Paper Jam error but no paper jam
ANSWER : Obviously you didn’t get all the paper cleared out. There is a small scrap in the paper path causing the jam when the paper hits it. You can try clearing it out by inserting something stiff like a piece of file folder from the back of the printer into the paper path and pushing the offending piece out that way.

I use this method almost everyday (without removing the actual solenoid). I’ve replaced so many I got carried away and now, I sell a solenoid repair kit! It’s for those people that like convenience. I provide a professional supply of perfect material with sticky back tape pre-cut to exact dimensions! All in a little kit. I have install videos, (I don’t charge for that I believe in the Do-it -Yourself approach.) Sorry for the sales pitch… but here is my link.

Paper jam in tray 2 (but no paper pulled from tray) also M476DN models
ANSWER : Isopropyl alcohol is not recommended for rubber rollers. It dries out the rubber and hasten it’s cracking and breaking. It will do nothing to restore the grip. Those rollers are really hard to replace. It would be easy if that dumbass secondary menu really worked. None of the techs I’ve spoke to ever got into it. Everyone I know sends a print job and listens for the roller to rotate into position where you can pull it off.
