For commercial applications, high-end printers can print up to 100 pages per minute. Black and white printing can still produce images, using shades of gray in place of colors while improving your print speed dramatically over the speed of printing in color.
Here`s a quick calculation you can do to get a rough idea of how many pages your cartridge will print. The manufacturer`s capacity is based on 5% of the page being covered in ink or toner, but if you are printing large shaded areas or more than 4 paragraphs of text, we generally print at more like 10 – 15% coverage.
Many inkjet printers are rated at about 15 pages per minute for black ink. Laser printers usually print twice that fast. Some high-volume monochrome laser printers print as fast as 100 pages per minute.
Write down the two times from the stopwatch. The first time tells you how long a one-page document takes to print. If the second time is greater than one minute, convert the time to seconds and divide seconds by four. The result is the average time, per page, for a long print job.
Reduce print quality to improve print speed (Windows)
Click your printer, and then click Manage > Printing preferences. Click the Paper or Paper/Quality tab, and then make sure Plain Paper is selected in the Type or Paper type field. Adjust the print quality.
