How to Identify and Fix Common Problems ?

An average ink cartridge will be able to print anywhere from 120 to 220 pages before needing to be replaced. This cost can add up. You should know the expected lifetime of your printer if you expect the ink cartridge and page yield to be higher.
Install HP Smart app to complete setup and support

Install printer software and drivers. Create an HP account and register your printer. Connect your printer to Wi-Fi, load paper, and install cartridges.

Your printer`s ink cartridge number is printed on the top or front of the ink cartridge carrier on a sticker. The sticker also contains the color of the cartridge – black, magenta, yellow and cyan.
Each ink cartridge typically has a number printed on it somewhere. You can remove the cartridge to find this number. Alternatively, you can look for the printer cartridge number or cartridge type in your printer`s manual.
Ink is required in all cartridges to print and to perform periodic servicing to prevent clogs and other print quality issues. There is no way to bypass this feature. If one of the following messages displays, replace the indicated cartridge to continue printing.
Ink cartridges can usually last two or three years if properly packaged and stored. But in a standard case, they will eventually dry out and become useless after this period. However, many major ink cartridge makers don`t put expiration dates on their cartridges.
The ink or toner cartridges are listed according to where the printer was manufactured. Some printers use more than one cartridge. For example, an HP Deskjet 1510 All-in-One Printer uses an HP 61 Black ink cartridge, as well as an HP 61 Tri-color ink cartridge.
` HP+ printers are cloud-connected devices that must remain connected to the Internet in order to function. The Internet connection enables the printer to deliver HP+ specific app features and firmware updates. During setup, you must connect the printer to the Internet by Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
Some HP printers have a built-in Bluetooth radio that supports pairing with a computer, mobile phone, or tablet to enable wireless printing. Turn on the Bluetooth radio on the printer. Depending on the model, press the Bluetooth button , or navigate to the Setup or Network menu to access Bluetooth settings.
If you`re using a different brand, then it won`t work. You can`t use Canon ink cartridges to replace HP ink cartridges and vice versa. You also can`t interchange different ink cartridge models, even if they are from the same brand. Thus, you can`t use HP 301 inks in an HP 304 printer even if they`ll fit.
Check the box your printer came in. Most printer boxes clearly display which cartridges are compatible with the printer right on the box. Find your printer model on the manufacturer`s website. The appropriate cartridges should be listed on the printer page.
If you`re refilling a standard cartridge, you can put in about 4ml of ink. If you`re refilling a high yield cartridge, you can put in about 10ml of ink.
Select your printer then press “Manage” Select “Printing Preferences” Click on the “Maintenance” tab on the far right. From there you should be able to see ink levels for your selected printer.
The quick answer is: Yes, you can (if you own a printer model that allows it) — but you shouldn`t keep printing with an empty cartridge for too long. Why? Because running on an empty cartridge for too long can cause your printhead to overheat resulting in irreversible printer damage.
Temporarily Printing with Black Ink When Color Ink Cartridges are Expended. When color ink is expended and black ink still remains, you can continue printing for a short time using only black ink. However, you should replace the expended ink cartridge(s) as soon as possible.
Once the expiration date has passed, the ink no longer produces the same way it was designed to. With air working its way into the cartridge, it can dissolve into the ink carrier or the ink itself can become sludgy which goes on to clog your printer and print head and produce crappy prints.
After all, expired printer cartridges from HP can be used without any problems even one to two years beyond the expiration date without any restrictions. However, once the printer cartridges are even older, you should overlook using them. This is especially true if your printer has a standalone print head.
Are printers cheaper than print cartridges in many cases? Spoiler alert – yes. Even the cheapest ink cartridge is comparable to the cheapest printer, price-wise.
Black ink cartridges usually have more ink than color cartridges and cost either the same or less than color cartridges so it is always cheaper to print in black and white.
Click Printers and Scanners, Print & Scan, or Print & Fax. Click the name of your printer, and then click Open Print Queue. Click Printer Setup or Settings, click Utility, and then click Open Printer Utility. Click Print Quality Diagnostic.
Open or search for the HP folder in your list of installed software programs, click the folder for your printer, then click the name of your printer. HP Printer Assistant opens. On the HP Printer Assistant window, click Maintain Your Printer. Click the Device Services tab, then click Estimated Ink Levels .
Restoring the factory-set defaults returns most of the settings to the factory defaults. It will not reset the page count, tray size, or language.
To be specific, you should make sure that your printer has sufficient paper, ink or toner and without paper jam. If the printer cartridge`s status is faulty, you should replace it with a new one. After carrying out these operations, check if the HP printer can print properly. If not, try other methods immediately.
Deskjet printers are slower than their inkjet counterparts, but they are cheaper to produce and usually require less maintenance. They also produce higher-quality text and graphics than inkjet printers. Deskjet printers are best for users who don`t have a lot of printing needs.

Tray 1 (upper tray) paper feed problem
ANSWER : There is no way of adjusting the distance of lift. Could be that the pickup roller is worn enough that it will pick up a sheet that is higher, but not one that is lower down. You can look at the end of the roller that first makes contact and see if it is worn smooth.

Paper jam in tray 2 (but no paper pulled from tray) also M476DN models
ANSWER : Isopropyl alcohol is not recommended for rubber rollers. It dries out the rubber and hasten it’s cracking and breaking. It will do nothing to restore the grip. Those rollers are really hard to replace. It would be easy if that dumbass secondary menu really worked. None of the techs I’ve spoke to ever got into it. Everyone I know sends a print job and listens for the roller to rotate into position where you can pull it off.

13.01.00 "jam in tray …" error message
ANSWER : I have never seen that problem. Really bizarre. I have to say that I’ve never replaced a main motor in any printer that I can remember and we’re talking thousands of them. I would suggest that if you have a voltmeter that you check the main motor contacts during the warm up procedure and see if they are indeed getting any voltage and go from there. If there is voltage, it’s the motor. If not, then most likely the controller board. If you don’t have a meter, it’s cheaper to buy one than start buying parts for the printer.
