HP LaserJet 2200DN
My printer was printing fine yesterday until it stopped all of a sudden with the alert light on. I thought printer was out of paper or jammed, but it wasn’t the case. When I toggled power, printer lights flash alternately, ending with the steady green ready light. Everything looked fine at this point. But when I tried sending a print job, or press the go button to print a test page, printer started as if to print, then stopped with all 3 lights on solid. Waiting 15 minutes before toggling power again as the HP service manual suggest resulted in the same symptom. I also tried resetting the NIO card by holding down the go button while toggling power. When I released the go button, all 3 lights came on. Finally, I tried the ‘engine test’ as specified in the HP service manual (unfortunately I didn’t read the procedure close enough, and used a paper clip to press the engine-test button. Manual has a warning saying not to use anything conductive to press the switch. Hope I didn’t mess things up further). Engine test failed. When I pressed the engine-test button, the printer started (maybe just the fan), but then stopped with the 3 solid lights without printing the single page with lines.

Restoring the factory-set defaults returns most of the settings to the factory defaults. It will not reset the page count, tray size, or language.
